There had been scattered settlers in the area since at least the
mid-1880s, but the first documented permanent residents of the Pompano area were George Butler and Frank Sheen and their families, who arrived in 1896 as railway employees. The first train arrived in the small Pompano settlement on February 22, 1896. It is said that Sheen gave the community its name after jotting down on his survey of the area the name of the fish he had for dinner. The coming of the railroad led to development farther west from the coast. In 1906, Pompano became the southernmost settlement in newly created Palm Beach County. That year, the tall Hillsboro Lighthouse was completed on the beach, and the rest is history!

The Course Camarguaise is a game in the bullring between the Camargue bull and the raseteur, a man dressed in white.
The aim of the raseteur is to take the two tassels attached to the base of each horn, and finally two strings placed near the tassels that the bull wears on its head.
The bull has 15 minutes in the ring; each bull has a name and there is no killing or injury to the animal. Once its career is over, it ends its life quietly in the meadow and statues are raised to the most famous bulls in towns and cities across the Camargue.

The town of St Andrews in Fife claims to be the 'Home of Golf'.
This is the view near the first tee of the Old Course. It is one of the oldest courses in the world; the game has been played here since the 15th Century.

I had almost completed my lone trip to this beautiful place when a group of about a dozen photographers on a professional course arrived and started setting up.
There is a good footpath across the golf course which I have never come across before and the course is looking mighty fine at the moment with the gorse flowers.

This is an experiment on editing color. Today I am going to do a course on Elements, hope it will rub off as I feel I lag a lot of knowledge there.
I am one of these city girls who takes the car for every thing, so I can only dream of cycling, but this is also due to extreme workpressure.

View from the club house at the Yugawara Country Club (yugawara-cc.com) in Yugawara (湯河原), Japan. And no, I wasn't playing, otherwise I would still be there now searching for lost balls.
I had special permission to visit the club house and take some photos in this spectacular location. It had been raining all morning, so this break in the clouds was very fortuitous!
When I visit other people's streams, I like to leave encouraging comments or respectful critique. I never leave images, logos or text based decorations in my comments. I'd really appreciate it if you could do the same for me. Thank you!
