I found this couple the other day, mating. The male is much smaller, as you can see. This is when I realized that they are adults, since only adults are fertile and can mate. Later on, I also found a female laying eggs in the soil. It's a very vulnerable stage, where their abdomen is stuck very deep in the ground. Only their excellent camouflage can save them from predators, but humans can miss them and step on them...

The Postcard

Note the boots the man's wife is wearing. The man is also wearing boots.
The Albert Chain
Note the man's watch chain, also referred to as an Albert chain, after Prince Albert, the husband of Queen Victoria. The chain would have been attached to the man's pocket watch.
This means that the photograph was probably taken before the start of the Great War, because life in the trenches forced the use of the more practical wrist watch.
During this period men discovered the benefits of wearing a watch on the wrist, and continued to use them after the war, thus catching up with women who had been wearing them for many years prior to the war.
Watch chains were frequently decorated with a silver, gold or enamel pendant, often carrying the arms of a club or society. The pendant became known as a fob.
Ostensibly practical gadgets such as a winding key, cigar cutter or vesta case (for carrying matches) also appeared on watch chains, usually in a highly decorated style.
A couple of really really cute dimseni -- kids -- hanging out next to "la colline," where dance and drumming classes are often held underneath a big tree.
Worth looking at large.

One of my "top 5" couples, Nikolas and Jambria Kontos (my sim Nick, who is one half of another top couple, is his son from a previous marriage). I think I might have to put all my top couples back in game again just for old times' sake... but anyway, Nikolas and Jamie have always been elders in any of their incarnations, and they were SO hard to make in bodyshop this time around because elders' facial structures SUCK. In the end, though, they turned out all right, and when they did this pose I couldn't stay mad.
Also, kind of a funny thing... I was thinking about which sims I considered to be in my"top 5 couples," and in three of them, the women have red hair. In the two couples that don't, the women married a father and son. (Also, two of them have a redhaird woman and a blonde man! Oh, originality, thy name is NOT Freelancer.)
I got a new lens, baby. A Lensbaby Muse actually. Tried it out for the first time today - tricky thing to use! Finding the 'sweet spot' of focus was harder than I thought it would be but I managed a few shots that were okay. Think this will need a lot of practise.
