Banarirasi Dasand and his wife Kamala stand outside their home. Inside, everything they own has been destroyed. Outside, clothes and belongings lie strewn, left there by the floodwaters.
The elderly couple live beside the river and are part of a dalit community, who along with other marginalised groups often end up living in areas of cities, towns and villages most prone to disaster.

I was so glad this random couple didn't see me capturing their private moment on my camera. They were really happy.
Nancy Yirku has served as a firefighter/EMT for over 35 years with Albion Township, Concord/Pulaski, Albion Ambulance. She was the first female Assistant Fire Chief in Jackson County. She has worked for the MDOC for 11 years. Nancy has a family legacy of service including her father, brother, nephews, uncle and her husband in the first responder field.
John Yirku has also served for 35+ years as a first responder for Albion Township & Concord/Pulaski. He was a Lieutenant as well. He retired from Michigan Department of Corrections with 32 years. He had positions of Corrections Officer, Probation and Parole officers and an IPA . He also was a police officer as well.

Taken one Sunday morning at Freestone Park in Gilbert, Arizona. I had been there at the same time exactly one week earlier, without my camera; and as luck would have it, I was treated to the spectacle of a hummingbird feeding around an overhanging tree branch and taking his sweet time about it. So I returned to that spot, with camera in hand, hoping for a similar stroke of good fortune. It didn't happen, of course, but I did see this couple relaxing some distance away, and got a picture of them instead.
