A mad dash to my go-to location for when high tide and sunset times coincide. It had been dreary and misty all day, but eventually the sky seemed to give a bit of promise, so I made the arduous five minute drive and thirty second hike to this location, although mindful of the heavy rain that was coming in. All I managed was a couple of quick 'in the bag' shots before it started to rain heavily, no time to choose a better stance or play with long exposures. Shot as a vertical pano to get in the marvelous sky which quickly clouded over.
Newlywed couples in Moscow are expected to kiss on a bridge on their wedding day. As part of this tradition, the couple must attach a padlock with their names and vows written on it, to a metal tree on the bridge, and throw the key in the river to symbolize faithfulness and enduring love.

la leggenda del tulipano
La triste leggenda di un amore ricambiato, ma purtroppo destinato ad essere spezzato.
La leggenda racconta di due giovani, belli ed innamorati che abitavano in un povero villaggio in Persia, lui di nome Shirin e lei Ferhad.
Un giorno Shirin decise di partire in cerca di fortuna, lasciando la sua amata. Passarono giorni e mesi, ma lui non tornava, così Ferhad si avventurò nel deserto per cercarlo, ma mentre vagava alla ricerca del ragazzo, cadde su delle pietre aguzze. Ferita e dolorante si mise a piangere, conscia che sarebbe morta senza rivedere il suo bel Shirin. Le sue lacrime di dolore si mischiarono al sangue e cadendo goccia dopo goccia sul terreno si tramutarono in bellissimi tulipani rossi.
Tutte le primavere questi fiori tornano a fiorire e raccontano questa infelice passione dei due giovani innamorati.
The Legend of the Tulip
The sad legend of a love reciprocated, but unfortunately destined to be broken.
The legend tells of a couple of young beautiful and in love, who lived in a poor village in Persia, he named Shirin and she Ferhad . One day Shirin decided to leave in search of fortune, leaving his beloved of him. Days and months passed, but he did not return, so Ferhad ventured into the desert to look for him, but as she wandered in search of the boy, she fell on sharp stones. She was hurt and in pain she began to cry, aware that she would die without seeing his beloved Shirin again. Her tears of pain mixed with her blood falling drop by drop on the ground turned into beautiful red tulips. Every spring these flowers come back to bloom and tell about this unhappy passion of the two young lovers.

Color change along the lower Hudson Valley has always been a bit later than the rest of the area. Warmer temperatures near the water keeps the leaves attached a couple of weeks longer. The evidence is plainly seen here as Conrail TVLA makes its ritual morning northward run at Tompkins Cove, NY rolling along some rather nice peak foliage with the past peak setting in a couple of hundred feet above the water level.
