The classic nose of the PA is displayed at Martinez, CA on the point of the City of San Francisco, along with the distinctive SP attributes of a snowplow pilot, icicle breaker bars and wagon wheel antenna. Having powered the train west from Ogden, Utah, there is only about an hour left in the schedule before tying up in West Oakland. Martinez was full of action during this era, with 101, when on time, in early afternoon, then 102 would arrive heading east in late afternoon followed by the passing of the westbound San Joaquin Daylight and the north (railroad east) bound Cascade. On this day 101 is two hours late requiring a different set of protection power PAs to take 102 east.

Once again apologies offered for wrong side vestibule shot at speed from COSF. 6/68.

Union Pacific's EMD E6 904A is ahead of the City of San Francisco at NAPM's Hillsboro depot in 1946. This model represents the 1946–1948 era COSF operating on the Southern Pacific. No. 101 was the westbound designation on the SP's portion of the route.

I found this on ebay. This is the combod City of San Fransisco and City of Los Angles in my hometown of Marion, IA in September 1964. There is a lot to see in this scene. Today all of this is gone except for the depot roof which was moved west into the city park across 11th St. Charlie Franzen photo.

A Piper PA-28-161 (registration G-COSF) flying over Auchencairn Place in Monifieth. According to FightRadar24 it flew past Dundee airport around 0820 UTC heading SW along the River Tay at 2100 feet and 81 knots. The next track starts at 0921 UTC between Glasgow and Falkirk heading NE at 2200 feet and 100 knots reaching 2600 feet and 90 knots at Loch Leven; it appears to land at the western edge of Glenrothes. Then at 1040 UTC it is flying at 2200 feet and 90 knots NW of Glenrothes heading north to Newburgh and then NE along the River Tay at 1047 UTC, nearly an hour before this photo was taken (camera is set to GMT/UTC). The next track starts at 1159 UTC just off the coast at Montrose.

I added some extra foam padding for a final touch.

SP Train 11, the southbound Casade, makes its station stop at Berkeley. The run down from Portland has just about concluded for the train. F7A 6203 leads the lengthy train of coaches and sleepers on this occasion. Deadheading right behind the motive power is one of PRR's 1949 "Colonial" series 3 Bedroom-1 Drawing Room-Bar-Lounge cars. The occasion is unknown for the car's presence. It probably had come west either on a temporary lease or for a tour group. Presumably the car would return east from Oakland in the COSF.

Nothing was wrong with the mouth, but I thought I'd inspect it while I had everything open.

The replacement square-fitting gear fit just right!

In standard fashion, firefighters from South Fulton-GA Fire Rescue, Cobb County Fire & Emergency Services, Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services, Emergency Room physicians from Emory Emergency Medicine Residency out of Emory University and Dekalb County Fire Rescue Department as the hosting agency chose to spend this International Firefighters' Day conducting some multi-jurisdictional #trench #training. Not to be forgotten and equally as important is Construction Safety Week with a proactive approach to focus on #firefighter #safety and #preparedness.

I hot-glued the wires in place after this photo was taken.

Installing the replacement square-fitting gear from Larry Lobster, and greasing it all up.

This gear was one out of the two problems with the head. As you can see, the center is stripped. I didn't think I had a replacement the right size, but luckily I found just the one I needed inside a Big Mouth Larry Lobster!

A small sampling of the dogs present at the COSF 2010 Sheltie party!

From left to right: Gio, Romeo, Jake, and Bailey.

This switch worked fine - it was the other that was causing a problem.

The fish was manufactured with the switch in the wrong direction (sensor, off, demo). I had to turn it around to change it to normal (demo, off, sensor).
