The Strawberry Emotions Poem

loving your passion

feeling the sweetness of dreaming

surrending to those summer strawberry days

of strawberry emotions

sweet strawberry seeds

planted in your soul

hope that this dark, ripe strawberry

will be the sweetest you've ever experienced

strawberry emotions

strawberry juice trailing down your lips

kisses sticky

and suddenly the words flow

another basket of strawberries

another poem to write

another of many

strawberry emotions

sweet surrender

just surrender

to those summer

those lazy summer

and strawberry emotions

The trees communicate in terpenes and other volitiles only detectable with special instruments (though we also can sometimes smell the forest).

The trees are neurons in a cortex. When we walk in the woods, we are traveling through a brain, and maybe also through a mind, of sorts. What emergent properties does a stand of trees have? The trees collective thoughts are completely foreign to us.

Their conversation is mostly undetectable and very sedate to creatures that run at roughly human clock speeds. No need to be hasty.

Trees absorb sheaves of solar rays too. Many of them are also invisible until they enter the lens of a camera without its hot mirror filter. Because the camera doesn't know which light should be visible to us, it records all the photons that hit it sensor as red, green, or blue. And in this way, through technological unknowing, we obtain knowledge of the unseen.

This follows the pattern of our general experience of life. First, even the plain things going on all around us take time and sometimes extra effort to even start to observe — let alone fully understand.

Second, it is only by moving through a phase of ignorance that we can allow even what is brilliantly illuminated to enter our awareness.

The truth is not just out there, it is everywhere.

It's painful, I know. I wished some of our political leaders would do the same. I have nothing against reptiles. The problem comes when our Neo Cortex supplies our reptile brain with unlimited processing power. Turning us into monsters. Have a look.

The Arabs called the village Cortex. It was conquered by Ferdinand III, known as the Holy, though it was only briefly in Christian hands, returning once more to Arabic rule before its definitive capture by troops of Catholic Monarchs in 1485. Cortes became a border village between Christian territory and the last bastions of the Andalusi-Arabic empire, which explains the addition of "La Frontera" ("The Frontier") to its name.

The image today was taken this Morning during my break at work. The view is a Macro shot of a small withered leaf as seen along its edge. As it's Monday this image serves as both my Photo and edit for my iPhone 365 project and my entry for Macro Mondays - Edge.

The photo was taken using a Macro Lens attachment and the app Cortex Camera on my iPhone 6.

First I used the app Snapseed to edit the picture. I cropped the image and applied the Tonal Contrast preset. I then increased the Structure and Sharpness a little and boosted the Contrast, Saturation and Shadows. After this I decreased the Highlights, and Warmth. I finally used the Brush feature to desaturate the background desk from the leaf. After this I used the app PicsArt to apply the De-noise correction to the image, then I applied the Artistic Oil Painting FX preset. Finally I used PhotoToaster to add the Clarify preset, the Vibrant FX and a Large dark vignette. I then applied the Paper preset and the Shadow II frame.

Today's image was taken this afternoon in Balsall Common. It is a view of Berkswell Windmill. The Windmill was built in 1846 and is situated on the site of a much older mill. It is thought that this is the most fully complete Tower Windmill in the Midlands. Berkswell Windmill is now privately owned but is open to the public for one day each month. This is usually on the first Saturday of the month.

The photo was taken using the App Cortex Camera on my iPhone 6.

First I used the app Snapseed to edit the picture. I cropped and straightened the image. I then applied the Tonal Contrast preset and boosted the Contrast and Saturation of the sky. I then used the app Handy Photo to edit out the building that partially covered the sail of the windmill. Next I used Mextures to add the formula preset called Windansea by Justin Halbert. I then used the app DistressedFX to add the Citrus overlay and the Charm texture. I then flattened the image and added the Birds as an overlay and the Lazarus texture. I finally used PhotoToaster to add the Tone preset, the vibrant FX, a medium dark vignette. I then added the Slate texture and Antique frame.

The image today was taken late this Morning during my break at work. The view is a close up shot of a bundle of pencils. As well a being my Photo and Edit of the day for my 365 project, the shot taken as a Macro is also my entry for Macro Mondays - PPEP (Pencils, Pens, Erasers and/or Paperclips).

The photo was taken using a Macro Lens attachment and the app Cortex Camera on my iPhone 6.

First I used the app Snapseed to edit the picture. I cropped the image into a square and applied the Tonal Contrast preset. I then increased the Structure and Sharpness a little and boosted the Contrast and Shadows. After this I decreased the Highlights, Warmth and Ambiance. I finally added a vignette to the image. After this I used the app PicsArt to apply the Artistic Oil Painting FX preset. Finally I used PhotoToaster to add the Clarify preset, the Drama FX and a Medium dark vignette. I then applied the Stacked frame.

We take a risk when we open our hearts because the truth is, if we open our hearts, we will get hurt. You can’t open your heart and not have some hurt because you’re in a human experience. Even if it’s the love of your life and you have many wonderful, deepening, growing, powerful years together, it’s a human experience and that person will pass over. Love takes courage. Be courageous.

The image today was taken this afternoon at home. The view is a Macro shot of a few Nuts that are sat In a Row on top of my Laptop. I liked the texture of the lid of my Laptop with a little bit of bokeh from the lights of my Christmas tree. Again as it's Monday this image serves as both my Photo and edit for my iPhone 365 project and my entry for Macro Mondays - Redux 2016 - My Favorite Theme of the Year. My image is a newer take on my October 3rd entry of the 'In a Row' theme.

The photo was taken using the app Cortex Camera on my iPhone 6.

First I used the app Snapseed to edit the photo. I Cropped the image and applied the Tonal Contrast filter. I then boosted the Contrast, Saturation, Ambiance and Warmth. I also decreased the Highlights and Shadows, then I added a little extra Structure to the image. Next I used the app Shockmypic to apply a little bit of an abstract effect to the Nuts. Finally I used the app PhotoToaster to add the Backlit preset, the Vibrant FX and an Extra Large Dark Vignette. I then applied the Leak II texture and the Stacked frame.

Taken with iPod Cortex Cam image stacking app during moose watching outing. There are very few tree skeletons still standing in the Fox Lake Burn area after 26 years.

Today's image was taken this afternoon near the village of Lapworth in Warwickshire. The view is of the side elevation of Packwood House. This is a Grade I listed Timber framed Manor House. The house and grounds are owned and operated by the National Trust. This side view of the house was taken from the Carolean Garden that lead up to the Yew Tree garden.

The photo was taken using the app Cortex Camera on my iPhone 6.

First I used the app Snapseed to edit the photo. I straightened the image, then I applied the Tonal Contrast filter. I also boosted the structure and sharpening to the house, along with a little extra saturation, warmth and ambiance. Next I used the app DistressedFX to add the Birds above the house and the Vanilla texture. The next app used was Mextures. I added the Darker Days formula by Ryan Olde. Finally I used the app AltPhoto to add the Expired (pink highlights) Toy Camera preset and frame.

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven; A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck that which is planted.

Well I’m sure it’s pretty obvious where this started from, not.

It’s another great photographic idea that flopped on implementation and subsequently to be repurposed for Sliders Sunday. Originally it was a picture of water boiling in the bottom of a pan, taken on a whim while on holiday.

Great idea. Pity about the steam clouding the image, lol.

The Topaz Glow filter, for me, is a bit like a banned substance I guess (and I have to guess ;) )...I have withdrawal problems if I don’t get a regular dose of it...

Glow needs two things to work well at this abstract end of its possible uses: some sort of linear structure to seed its collagen building algorithms and some interesting colour. The boiling water (so the idea went) was all interesting circles for the structure, but the question was how to add colour, zap, zing, pizazz and general psychedelia?

So I created a layer formed from two overlaid conical rainbow gradients and blended that with the bubbles using Soft Light. I then used a Mirror distortion filter with 6 mirrors to get the sixfold symmetry (I’ll link to the original bubbles and this interim stage - where you can just still make the bubbles out - in the first comment).

Then the real fun started. Into Topaz Glow starting with one of the Neon presets, and then sliding the sliders to taste…

Back into Affinity Photo for mangling with the hue, saturation, contrast, colour curves (LAB) and a bit of Clarity filter. And there you have it, well apart from a black frame and a blue internal shadow :)

Thanks for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image (legally) :) Happy Sliders Sunday!!

Rusty sits quietly on the edge of the canal, casting its line into the water. It’s a quiet rebellion, an attempt to escape the chaos of constant connection, data streams, and the relentless hum of the city. In this moment, Rusty isn't monitoring systems or calculating algorithms; it’s simply fishing, waiting for something to take the bait. A brief pause to find peace in an increasingly digital world. In a landscape driven by circuits and code, even technology needs a break from itself.

"See how nature - trees, flowers, grass - grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence...we need silence to be able to touch souls.”

We can't all be stars, but we can all twinkle?!

Today's image was taken this evening in the Cathedral Quarter of Coventry City Centre. The view is looking down the narrow cobblestone lane called Hill Top. This is situated just off Priory Row.

The photo was taken using the app Cortex Camera on my iPhone 6.

First I used the app Snapseed to edit the photo. I cropped the image and applied both the Tonal Contrast and HDR Scape presets. I then decreased the Highlights and boosted the Saturation, Warmth and Contrast. Next I used the app LensLight to apply the Top Gradient filter to the image, plus the lens flare to the old street lamp. I the used the app Mextures to apply the formula called Windansea by Justin Halbert. Next I used DistressedFX to add the Starred overlay and the Lade texture. Finally I used PhotoToaster to add the Recover Highlights preset, the Stark FX and the Large Dark Vignette. I then applied the Old Paper texture and the Charcoal frame.

The image for today was taken early this morning just before I went to work, down the road from where I live. It is a view looking towards the rising sun over Prior Deram park. I really liked the look of the colours in the sky behind the tree.

The photo was taken using the app Cortex Camera on my iPhone 6.

First I used the app Snapseed to edit the photo. I Cropped and Straightened the image and applied the Tonal Contrast filter. I then boosted the Contrast, Ambiance Saturation and Warmth. I also decreased the Highlights and Shadows. Next I used the app PicsArt to apply a custom version of the Oil Painting preset. Finally I used the app Laminar Pro to apply the Craquelure Texture and the Snap Stack frame.
