Years ago I had a friend living in Corona who took me here. Fast forward 20 or so years, I went to an old colleague's birthday party in a nearby city and stayed in Corona for the night. I went to this joint the next morning. They are known for their johnnycakes.
Mertolink Train 857 rolls up to the Searchlight Signal at the top of the hill at Corona with a beefy looking six car train-set as the train heads for Oceanside. From here the train will make a quick stop at the West Corona Station before continuing downhill into Santa Ana Canyon where at Atwood the train will diverge onto the Metrolink's Orange Subdivision and start to head South.
With an approach signal on Main Track 1 which one day might become Main Track 2 with the current bridge having space for 3 signals light, and with the BNSF trying it's best to get through the red tape that slows down just about everything in California. A distinct Orange and Blackish Green set of locomotives comes out of the hazy abyss that is the Prado Dam/ Eastern Orange County area. As BNSF 3816 and company get their Q-train to the top of the 1.1% hill at Corona, from here the train will pick up the pace as the train works through the fairly flat area between Corona and West Riverside.
The head end of what will become the U PPHKGM5 09 sits at the loading zone for Ballast trains, when the time comes loading equipment will be moved in place and large off road trucks will feed somewhere in the neighborhood of 7,000 tons onto the railcars. Once done the train will drop down the branch and wait for a road crew to run it east.
The rear end of what will become the U PPHKGM5 09 (Unit Porphyry, CA "Corona" to Kingman, AZ) sits quietly on the former Santa Fe branch line that used to go down to Lake Elsinore. Now the tracks end about five miles south at the 3M load-out which see regular local service, as well as these heavy unit Ballast trains the train will sit for the weekend before it loads up early on Monday morning,

BNSF 4859 crests the small five maybe six mile long hill at Corona with Intermodal loads from Mediterranean, the train started it's short climb around milepost 31 and made fairly short work of the 1.1 percent grade. Now the long string of Red and Yellow containers out of TTI will cruise along the 91 Freeway at the maximum track speed of 50 miles per hour.
It's just a little after 3am and BNSF 7816 is tied down with an empties for the weekend. The Herzog train will load up with ballast on Monday morning which is regular for trains that arrive later on Friday.

Aqui vivem meus pensamentos ainda nao acabados.
E lhe deixei entrar, ta vendo, meu mundo eh publico...
Uma vida sem drama
eh igual a
uma vida sem fogo.
Eh igual a um oceano
sem ondas
um navio sem peixes
um cupido sem flexas
um navio sem mar...
Eh como uma lua sem
Jorge
um castelo sem Rei
Brasil sem Portugal
Espada sem dono
Mulheres sem dono
rainhas sem tronos
cavalos de pau
Seria um ceu sem estrelas
anel sem diamante
namorados sem lua
nem cantos do sapo
Seria fogo
viver sem Jorge
sem ondas
sem mulheres,
sem vagalumes no ar.
seria uma vida
sem brilho
sem diamantes....
Sem caras de pau....
My favorite things...
Brincos tamanho de um colar
folhas secas
ao som do piano ao fundo
harmonia dos violinos
e a luz clara penetrando
pela janela.
Seus brincos brilham
como raios de diamantes
contemplo seu corpo
na luz difusa
quebrada pela cortina
de algodao...
Seus brincos brilham
como folhas secas
diamantes
brilhos
junto com o adedron
de algodao..
Molhado....
