Smart Monarch Butterfly hiding in the shadows to avoid a hot mid-day sun.
Common... As a result of our Saturday's annual NABA area butterfly count, seemingly more abundant, this year.
Happy Weekend Greetings for All !
The ladies are in the stable
since a few days .
It's too hot !!! outdoors, 34-37 degrees
It is cooler , in the stable , climate control
they are not bothered by the heat
Hope it will get cooler soon, then they can go back to the meadow.
Thanks for all the comments , much appreciated
greetings the farm animals
Caroline

Another shot of rain formed on our wheelie bin lid. Applied a cold tone filter in Lr with a few slides thrown in too.

Yesterday I gave you a little foretaste of my Sunday sunrise photo tour (what a neologism - almost cooler than the photos).
Today I decided to be a little mean to you and make you wait a little longer for the rest of the pictures. Well, that's just how I am sometimes. Unlucky :-). All joking aside, I have to do this, otherwise I won't be able to see through here at some point.
Instead, I would first like to finish a few short series that I had already started.
I would like to start with another photo of the autumnal Priesnitz waterfall in the Dresden Heath. This time in portrait format.
Even if it seems like it, I didn't have to step into the already cold water to take this photo.

The morning after a spring snow storm dropped a few inches of snow over the Rocky Mountains, the rear DPs of C-WEAO shove coal loads downgrade as they head east for Denver. During the midst of a heat wave at home in Cincinnati, its nice to reminisce on cooler times earlier this year.
One of the cooler insects to appear at our light, this mini-mantis represents a different order (Neuroptera) from anything I've seen before. Englemann Woods NA
Ironically, these twin male snow leopards were born on the same day as the baby muskox (see previous pictures), but weren't "out" for the public to see until mid July.
Their names were voted on by the community from a choice of 5 possibilities and the winning names are Yuki and Kang......which both mean snow in Japanese and Tibetan.
I finally got a good look at them on a nice fall day, they were often inside their cooler housing during the summer.
(Quite a few touch-ups done.....the harsh light and shadows cast above their enclosure, along with the chain fence, made it challenging.)
