Two Cattle Egrets (Bubulcus ibis) squaring off in the rookery by 40-acre lake, Brazos Bend State Park, Needville, Texas.
This young Red Deer stag was thinking momentarily to take up an opportunity to chance his luck (and lack of wisdom) against a huge monarch (16 point antler rack) in and amongst his herd of hinds. Fortunately, the young buck wisely decided to leave the territory after the old monarch made a sudden quick charge followed by a bellowing cry to warn-off his young competitor.
This is a very popular dead tree in the middle of a small bay in Braeside. Almost every year a pair of Red-rumped Parrots uses one of its hollows to breed but first they come in small flocks and there is a lot of action and the Bay of Tranquility, as it's called by the initiates of the wetlands, is anything but tranquil.

This Turnstone (Arenaria interpres) is the second contestant in the "Dancing with the Birds" competition. It is practising it's Flamenco routine!! =D

This is a entry in a Combined Driving Event at the Kentucky Horse Park. This is the 2nd part of the event called the marathon where the carriage must negoitate a course at speed using the two grooms shown riding in the back to balance the carriage through tight turns often hanging out over the sides of the carriage like sailing. The Bluegrass is not very green here. Kentucky has had back to back summer droughts and our pastures are paying a high price.
So I have to decided by Sunday whether I want to submit this photo, or this one. What do ya'll think?
I kind of like the look of the other one better, but contestant #2 is a little more fun. (Notice the webcam in the back :p)

Tea Dueling is where contestants dunk a biscuit in a cup of hot tea to the count of three, the biscuit must be dunked to at least 3/4 depth, Contestants must then consume the biscuit cleanly before it dissolves but after their opponent does.
For Americans biscuit = cookie
