The spring of this year (2019) was wet in northwestern Wyoming and as a result numerous mudslides occured. On April 19,2018, Part of the Chief Joseph Highway slipped away. All summer there has been one way traffic in the area of the slide. This fall a construction project to stabilized the highway and rebuild it commenced. They are working around the clock. In this view from atop Dead Undian hill, the lights of the construcrion project really stand out. Numerous cars can also be seen moving along the highway.

The 24th Avenue North Stormwater Ocean Outfall Project began in August 2024 is a set of two 84-inch pipes that will extend 1,500 feet into the ocean underneath the sea floor. When the project is finished, it will replace 11 storm drain pipes along other beach access locations, redirecting the stormwater to the central location on 24th Avenue North. These outfalls, while removing numerous stormwater pipes from the beach, also help collect trash, as well as filter water before it returns to the ocean. The outfall project comes with a $42.6 million price tag and is expected to be finished in early 2026.

“We want to keep the beach clean,” Myrtle Beach Infrastructure Projects Manager Chris Miller said. “We want to keep it attractive for our visitors. It’s very important to us that the beach is clean and beautified.”

Three bracketed photos were taken with a handheld Nikon D7200 and combined with Photomatix Pro to create this HDR image. Additional adjustments were made in Photoshop CS6.

I believe this is a new access ramp for cyclist and pedestrian crossing on the north side of the George Washington Bridge. I did like the way the trees have been trimmed to frame the view of the bridge.

A Walter Netsch/ SOM project built in Colorado Springs, Colorado, from1956 to 1962. The chapel, in a cold temperate, rural campus area, is portrayed in an Expressionist Modern style. The chapel is interpreted to be massed like a phalanx of fighter jets shooting up into the sky. (http://www.greatbuildings.com/buildings/Air_Force_Academy_Chapel.htm)

We toured the U.S. Air Force Academy on a Saturday afternoon. There were two weddings scheduled, so unfortunately, we were not able to photograph the gorgeous interior of the building this trip. This was my first visit to Colorado, and I fell in love with the area. I am anticipating a return trip.

.... A barge and crane can be seen in Lake Ontario from the shores of Woodbine Beach, part of a new outfall tunnel construction project for the Ashbridges Bay Treatment Plant. The construction will create a new 3,500 metre / 11,500 foot-long underwater tunnel intended to convey up to 3,923 megalitres per day of treated 'waste' from the Ashbridges Bay Treatment Plant into Lake Ontario.

In other words, it's a massive underwater tunnel to transport treated water that formerly contained human liquid waste into the lake.

Thankfully, the water is fully treated and disinfected and only then is it discharged into Lake Ontario.

The construction including onshore and offshore work, and is expected to be completed by late 2023 ....

Most people would probably not find this interesting...but, I am periodically shooting the progress of this overpass construction project. I think it is projected as a $600 million project. YIKES!

This park is next to the campus of University of the Cumberlands where my cousin, Jessica, attends. It's a beautiful campus. I wish I had taken some photos of it as we were driving around looking for that McDonald's restaurant. I'll have to get some pics of it next year.

Already way behind schedule, plagued by cost overruns and unforeseen contingencies, completion is further delayed now that a much needed inspection has been rescheduled.

On a positive note, so far the building inspectors have been relatively pleased, and the Fire Marshal has just arrived.

Who knew there was so much drama in refurbishment?

Shot through my Acura’s sun roof, upside down. It needed straightening and I added perspective control to that fix. Snapseed did the job.

While renovations are underway, getting in is still relatively straight forward, but getting out is a different story.

Capital Dock is one of the largest mixed-use developments ever built in Ireland and it was completed towards the end of 2018 but I was unable to gain access to the completed project until Easter weekend 2019. The compex spans 4.8 acres, providing more than 690,000sq ft of new mixed-use space, including offices, retail and family units, as well as more than 1.5 acres of public park space.

Global investment bank JP Morgan and jobs site Indeed have committed to occupy all of the available office space, and are preparing their new premises for occupancy in 2019.

Nearly 200 family units will be available to rent this year, with a dedicated on-site concierge, resident lounges, cinema, professional gym, business suites and a chef’s kitchen. There is also be a landscaped park and square open to the public.

The project will welcome new retailers in the coming year, including a restaurant and bar with a terrace, a gourmet grocer, and additional food and beverage offerings.

“The National Aeronautics and Space Administration six-million pound crawler-transporter, the vehicle that will carry Saturn V moon rockets to the launch pad on a specially built roadway, is shown during a demonstration run for space officials and the press at Launch Complex 39 of the Kennedy Space Center, Merritt Island, Fla. In the background is the Vertical Assembly Building where the 350-foot Saturn V and Apollo will be assembled and checked prior to the 3 mile trip to the launch pad. The crawler, one of the two being built for KSC by Marion Power Shovel Co., Marion, Ohio, will undergo extensive testing before it becomes operational next September.”

A brownfield 50-acre Channelside site where Tampa meets its satellite community of Ybor City, the initial Gasworx project proposed a new stadium for the Tampa Bay Rays MLB team. It is now going to be a mixed-use development, with apartments, restaurants and retail outlets - in fact, the usual stuff that developers promote these days. Only a marina is missing, the cherry on top of many a Sunshine State proposal. Darryl Shaw is the main promoter, being quoted in the Tampa Bay Times as “wanting to transform historic Ybor City from a place known primarily for drinking and debauchery to a fully walkable neighbourhood with all the amenities of a modern city.”

Gasworx construction is due for completion in late 2026. I hope Ybor City carries on with its drinking and debauchery.

Crazy Old Mary is on her way back to the homestead, but the problematic plumbing, foundering foundation, and enigmatic electric wiring is proving to be a challenge for Ronald "Red" Donald and the Reddy Restoration crew.
