Black-tailed godwits
The Black-tailed godwits went on alert drawing my attention and as I took this picture I took my eyes off the fence behind me and the Kingfisher sat on it laughing at me :-)
Not everyone agrees with our government and their Covid-19 measures. Suspicion and impatience are increasing among some.
Highly unlikely cover for a Sun Ra album yet to be recorded in some other life :))

"Outer Nothingness" by SUN RA, in 'The Heliocentric Worlds of Sun Ra' (1965)
Some very strange clouds that evening. The sky felt nearly pearlescent. If you peek a bit, you also get to see a bit of the dreadful banding effect that led me to sell that lens. On Panasonic bodies it has a lot going for it but on Olympus bodies at night it quickly turns anything into disaster. Pity, I liked the focal length.
Thank you everyone for your visits, faves and comments, they are always appreciated :)
It was a crisp still day with blue skies when I left Teignmouth. The forecast for the River Severn at Sharpness was encouraging with plenty of sun promised. So I set off on the 250 mile round trip full of expectation for a good display of steam. On arrival at Sharpness Point I was confronted with a layer of mist hanging over the river and a leaden sky. As I looked north towards Gatcombe the detail of the view disappeared into a grey gloomy mess. Bugger ! I was tempted to relocate as I had an hour in hand but several freights were in the system and one was due in ten minutes. Looking at the horizon and comparing it with radar weather maps it was clear that the same weather was all over within a 20 mile radius.
So......time to dig in and see what I could come up with, I was thinking a moody distant black and white shot or maybe a super close up of the loco passing opposite me. A couple of test shots later and the lack of contrast was annoyingly obvious.
What I did notice was a nice reflection in the still waters of the western shore of the Severn so I decided to build the shot around that.
Well here it is, if I am honest it is a bit disappointing and it just goes to show that no matter what kit you have or no matter how many hours you spend polishing a turd its still a turd.
