The Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations (CDC) (Case of the Deposits and Consignments) was designed by French architect Christian Hauvette, with lighting by American artist James Turrell. The sleek façade unveils the frame of the building. The regular office pattern gives it its specific rhythm, while Turrell's lights bathe it in colors as soon as night falls. Jean Renaudie renovated the Ivry-sur-Seine centre from 1969 to 1975. Among other things, he designed such structures as the Jeanne Hachette Building, with its unique star shape and garden-terraces – the lush greenery gives the unpolished concrete a splash of color. The building epitomizes a desire to break away from the standardization typical of the 1950s and 1960s.
Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations (CDC) lets the French retain their savoir faire even in their old age. It serves as an investment bank for the government and oversees tax-exempt savings funds collected by savings banks (caisses d'épargne) and the post office. The group helps millions of French save, investing these deposits in such public projects as subsidized housing and semi-public companies it forms with local governments for urban development. The group runs retirement plans for government employees who are not part of the civil service system. Through its holdings in CNP Assurances, CDC is also one of France's top life insurers.

Back to Akihabara and went to the Akiba Cultures Zone. Packed with so many things I love and there even an entire floor dedicated to consignment sale cubicles for individual collectors to rid of their unwanted items. Another heaven on earth but then again no seats to rest during shopping!

The reach of Direct Relief tsunami-response programs has been enormous in scope and geographic range. In total, more than $13.5 million in targeted cash grants and $45.4 million in medicines, supplies, and equipment have been deployed for tsunami relief to nearly 90 local partners in India, Thailand, Sri Lanka, and Indonesia. Initiatives focused on seven specific responses: disease prevention; health facility construction and rehabilitation; medical and technical equipment assistance; health and medical services; psycho-social services; shelter; and water and sanitation.
