The Koninginnebrug, a bridge of the 'bascule' type (1929, A.H. Rood) is opened to let a battered rhine ship through. In the BG are the Noordereiland and the Willemsbrug (1981, C. Veerling/Gemeentewerken).

The monastery was founded in Vydubychi in 1070 by Prince Vsevolod Yaroslavich in conformity with his vow to build a temple in case of his recovery from the wounds inflicted during hunting.
In 1070-1088 on the slopes above the Dnipro River, a six-pier five-domed St. Michael’s Church with three naves was erected. In the 15th or 16th century the temple collapsed because of flood. After the restoration in 1766-1769 the church acquired a look of a single-domed baroque structure. Partially preserved in it were graffiti, frescoes, and mosaics of the 11th century – fragments of the composition Doomsday and ornamental patterns.
Here at the turn of the 18th century Colonel M.Miklashevsky from Starodubsk erected a stone five-domed St. George’s Cathedral and the Refectory Church of the Saviour (1686-1701), and Hetman D.Apostol – the belfry (1727-1733) designed in Ukrainian Baroque.

*Working Towards a Better World
Wikipedia
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonathan_Livingston_Seagull
Jonathan Livingston Seagull, written by Richard Bach, is a fable in novella form about a seagull learning about life and flight, and a homily about self-perfection. It was first published in 1970 as "Jonathan Livingston Seagull — a story." By the end of 1972, over a million copies were in print, Reader's Digest had published a condensed version, and the book had reached the top of the New York Times Best Seller list, where it remained for 38 weeks. In 1972 and 1973, the book topped the Publishers Weekly list of bestselling novels in the United States. In 2014 the book was reissued as Jonathan Livingston Seagull: The Complete Edition, which added a 17-page fourth part to the story.
Plot
The book tells the story of Jonathan Livingston Seagull, a seagull who is bored with daily squabbles over food. Seized by a passion for flight, he pushes himself, learning everything he can about flying, until finally his unwillingness to conform results in his expulsion. An outcast, he continues to learn, becoming increasingly pleased with his abilities as he leads a peaceful and happy life.
One day, Jonathan is met by two gulls who take him to a "higher plane of existence" in which there is no heaven but a better world found through perfection of knowledge. There he meets other gulls who love to fly. He discovers that his sheer tenacity and desire to learn make him "pretty well a one-in-a-million bird." In this new place, Jonathan befriends the wisest gull, Chiang, who takes him beyond his previous learning, teaching him how to move instantaneously to anywhere else in the Universe. The secret, Chiang says, is to "begin by knowing that you have already arrived." Not satisfied with his new life, Jonathan returns to Earth to find others like him, to bring them his learning and to spread his love for flight. His mission is successful, gathering around him others who have been outlawed for not conforming. Ultimately, the very first of his students, Fletcher Lynd Seagull, becomes a teacher in his own right, and Jonathan leaves to teach other flocks.
Part one
Part One of the book finds young Jonathan Livingston frustrated with the meaningless materialism, conformity, and limitation of the seagull life. He is seized with a passion for flight of all kinds, and his soul soars as he experiments with exhilarating challenges of daring aerial feats. Eventually, his lack of conformity to the limited seagull life leads him into conflict with his flock, and they turn their backs on him, casting him out of their society and exiling him. Not deterred by this, Jonathan continues his efforts to reach higher and higher flight goals, finding he is often successful but eventually he can fly no higher. He is then met by two radiant, loving seagulls who explain to him that he has learned much, and that they are there now to teach him more.
Part two
Jonathan transcends into a society where all the gulls enjoy flying. He is only capable of this after practicing hard alone for a long time and the first learning process of linking the highly experienced teacher and the diligent student is raised into almost sacred levels. They, regardless of the all immense difference, are sharing something of great importance that can bind them together: "You've got to understand that a seagull is an unlimited idea of freedom, an image of the Great Gull." He realizes that you have to be true to yourself: "You have the freedom to be yourself, your true self, here and now, and nothing can stand in your way."
Part three
In the third part of the book are the last words of Jonathan's teacher: "Keep working on love." Through his teachings, Jonathan understands that the spirit cannot be really free without the ability to forgive, and that the way to progress leads—for him, at least—through becoming a teacher, not just through working hard as a student. Jonathan returns to the Breakfast Flock to share his newly discovered ideals and the recent tremendous experience, ready for the difficult fight against the current rules of that society. The ability to forgive seems to be a mandatory "passing condition."
"Do you want to fly so much that you will forgive the Flock, and learn, and go back to them one day and work to help them know?" Jonathan asks his first student, Fletcher Lynd Seagull, before getting into any further talks. The idea that the stronger can reach more by leaving the weaker friends behind seems totally rejected.
Hence, love, deserved respect, and forgiveness all seem to be equally important to the freedom from the pressure to obey the rules just because they are commonly accepted.
Part four
In 2013 Richard Bach took up a non-published fourth part of the book which he had written contemporaneously with the original. He edited and polished it and then sent the result to a publisher. Bach reported that it was a near-death experience which had occurred in relation to a nearly fatal plane crash in August 2012, that had inspired him to finish the fourth part of his novella.[1] In February 2014, the 138-page Bach work Illusions II was published as a booklet by Kindle Direct Publishing. It also contains allusions to and insights regarding the same near-death experience. In October 2014, Jonathan Livingston Seagull: The Complete Edition, was reissued and includes part four of the story.

From a visit to the Murrumbateman Field Days, held over the weekend of 19 and 20 October each year for the past 35 years. The field days bring together over 400 exhibitors displaying the latest machinery, equipment and services to successfully run a small farm, including demonstrations of horsemanship, shearing and chainsaw art. Don't ask me what striped stockings have to do with it.

Words such as "autism" and "narcissism" are in such frequent and unspecific use these days that I am getting suspicious. These are labels (actually, umbrella terms with a whole range of meanings underneath) and my suspicion is that they are a device not to engage with a controversial substance matter. Exclusively at the CYBER FAIR ( June 3rd -23th)
Back in the 1990's I used to work for the Kodak Retail Group, processing film, selling film and cameras. I remember experimenting with processed slide film through the print machine creating a 'negative' print which always looked very alien with amazingly unnatural and vibrant colours.
So when I pressed the wrong adjustment button in the filter menu on Photoshop on this image I was sent back in time to those experimental moments in the film era!
I didn't originally intend to post this when it was created, but then I thought this is all part of my creative photographic journey!
And i'm not even going to pretend that the image here is 'amazing' or the process is even original, but I like the blue tones - reminds me of an old painting that's been in a sun filled room for too many years.
"Conformity"
Around sunset, I was walking towards a nature park with my camera when I spotted this repetitive architectural design with striking shadows hitting the walls. It suggested to me the struggles with striving for conformity while cast in the shadows of lost independence. Getting a good angle to highlight the repetitive design was a bit tricky, but ultimately I went with this angle.

A busy day that was filled with training sessions and meetings; it wasn't exactly a fun day but I suppose it served as an introduction to tomorrow, which will be more of the same.
But if I managed to get through tomorrow, I'll be free from the office for three days since Friday is my day off. So fingers crossed that the day won't drag on and on!
I was able to get out for a few minutes over the lunch break and this little sprout coming up from the concrete caught my eye.
Anyway, hope everyone has had a good day.

FATAL ACCIDENT OFF LANDSORT.
Deficiencies in the safety organization system were behind a tragic accident off Landsort on 23rd. March 2021, when a sailor died in a hold of the Cyprus flagged Nataly the Swedish Accident Investigation Board stated in its final report. The ship, loaded with wood chips, was anchored off the Swedish island of Öja, waiting to arrive at the quay in Landsort. In connection with the anchoring, the anchor chain of one of the anchors had got stuck in the anchor box and the chief mate together with two deckhands had therefore opened the anchor box. According to the investigation, it was found that a work light did not work, and one of the deck hands went to get replacement lighting. At the same time, the other deckhand was carrying out further preparations when he heard a sound and saw, that the door to descent to the hold was open. At the bottom, he saw the deckhand lying lifeless, and immediately raised the alarm.
The casualty was lifted out of the cramped space while the master called for help. Even though resuscitation was started as soon as possible, the casualty was still unconscious when a rescue helicopter arrived, and he was pronounced dead on his arrival at hospital.
Post mortem results suggested that the reason for the deckhands death was suffocation as a result of staying in the hold.
Following the incident, a review of the ship's safety organization system was carried out, and it reports several deviations. One conclusion that the Accident Investigation Board drew was that the safety organization system has not been effectively implemented, and that this is one reason why the incident could happen.
The direct cause of the accident, however, was that the deckhand went down into an enclosed space where there was a lack of oxygen. The hatch to the cargo hold descent was not blocked, which meant that a safety barrier was broken. However, it has not been possible to determine why the deckhand went down in the hold
NEAR COLLISION OFF BRUNSBUTTEL.
Nataly was in a near collision with the RoRo ferry Norrland on the River Elbe off Brunsbüttel, Germany in the early morning of 1st. March 2020 while enroute from Norrköping, Sweden to Teighmouth.
The Ukrainian captain steered the vessel towards the radar line in the middle of the channel. The Norrland was approaching towards Hamburg. During the change of the pilot off Brunsbüttel it was observed there was a dangerous. The pilot change was immediately aborted, and the master of the Norroland changed course to avoid the potential collision.
Traffic control filed a charge against the master of the Nataly for endangering ship traffic. The vessel was ordered to moor in Cuxhaven for investigations by the marine police. It berthed at 2.30 a.m. and was released at 5.10 a.m. The captain had to deposit a safety fine of 3.000 Euro.
