Probably made of "compo" or a pliable ornament still made by Decorator's Supply in Chicago (since 1893) this allowed the plasterer to create a rich effect without having to mold in place or create on a work bench made from scratch ornaments. These can be highlighted for an even richer effect as seen in this Oswatomie, KS house: www.flickr.com/photos/11236515@N05/15458389600/in/album-7... quite likely, the original ceiling finish here was similar to the Kansas example.
Good idea from a local photographer.
You enter the giant bubble and it's full of paper snow with a blower at the bottom. They shoot you from the outside.
It looks okish.. I think the material of the bublle kill it a bit.
So I choose to shot form the outside and true love from mum and baby was the perfect framing.

Unfortunately the compo is not as good as I wanted but it was a reflex shot (I hadn't the guts to redo the shot several times for a better compo) ;-)

The UK's Channel 4 is showing a selection of 3D t.v. programmes this week. The programmes include unseen footage of The Queen during her Coronation year and a 3D Magic Spectacular from illusionist Derren Brown! This is my Mum (so no rude comments, please!) and our dog Compo watching the second programme about The Queen.

Zeeraket
Het leven op het strand is hard voor een plant, maar zeeraket kan er overleven. In de zeereep, de eerste duinenrij, en op het strand kom je hem vaak tegen. Zijn bladeren lijken op die van vetplanten. Opvallend zijn ook de lila, soms witte, bloemen. Hij leeft op ondergestoven dode planten en dieren. De afbraak daarvan levert de voedingsstoffen op die zeeraket nodig heeft. Op het strand groeit zeeraket net zoals biestarwegras dan ook meestal op het vloedmerk. Beide planten houden zand vast. Dat kan het begin zijn van een nieuw duintje.

I've been seriously neglecting shooting for B&W for months, so I'm going to make a concerted effort to include more of that format throughout November (before the color-filled holidays arrive).
Above: The walkway ramp at Chicago's Midway Airport (not O'hare, the other one). And yes, you know the TSA & police love seeing someone with a camera shooting these kinds of structural elements. Only 12 minutes of questioning this time. :P
