I don't normally do street photography (it probably shows too!) - but the light was so beautiful down this street in York I had to fire off a few shots!!
#macromondays #guiltypleasure
I decided to share this image for the latest #mcromondays challenge called #guiltypleasure !
A guilty pleasure is something, such as an activity or a piece of media, that one enjoys despite understanding that it is not generally held in high regard or is seen as unusual. For example, a person may secretly enjoy a film while acknowledging that is poorly made or generally regarded unfavorably.
The term can also be used to refer to a taste for foods that are considered to be advisable to avoid, especially for health reasons. For example, coffee, alcoholic beverages, smoking and eating a little piece of chocolate after dinner are considered by many to be guilty pleasures.

This is my sanctuary, where the day unwinds and quiet takes hold.
Soft pink shadows cradle stillness, inviting rest without rush or demand.
A space made for letting go and simply being at peace.
I am on my way home ….. to you … my comfortzone, the one that gives me that feeling to be home.

Ulysses sits with effortless grace, his posture composed yet alert, like a monarch surveying his peaceful domain. The soft light catches the texture of his fur—a mix of cream, chestnut, and sable—revealing the fullness of his coat and the quiet dignity in his expression. There’s a depth behind those green eyes that hints at thought, as if he’s always a step ahead of you, deciding whether he’ll allow another photo or simply turn away with royal indifference.
The setting—a cozy living room with warm wood floors and soft green tones—frames him perfectly. He’s not posing; he’s simply being. That’s the essence of Ulysses: serene confidence wrapped in fur, part philosopher, part trickster. His front paw extends just so, balancing his relaxed sprawl with a touch of intent, as if this throne were chosen precisely for its vantage point over household happenings.
Every detail in the image conveys the quiet companionship of a cat who knows his place is at the center of calm. Ulysses reminds us that beauty often lives in stillness and presence—in knowing how to rest, unapologetically, in one’s own light.
No quote this fine English Evening, I think like most photographers I stick to a comfort zone.. perhaps I remain stagnant in my photography.. busy life, family, blah blah, always wanting to do something a little different.. I love 'Still Life' but I hesitate on exploring it. Fear of failure maybe? But then like most genuine non-ego photographers who photograph with a true passion for the art of photography and always happy to learn, I fear failure a little and who wouldn't.. so.. this fine summers afternoon, I picked some flowers from my bloomin garden and played around, no usual bokeh, no depth of field, no 1.4 apertures, no guaranteed results I know I can do, I tried something different the very scary world of 'Still Life'!! I have the imagination and I know my camera inside out, but I remain stagnant.. so here is a small go at something less guaranteed in my knowledge, but something I want to do.. polite opinions welcome.. go gentle one me I've had a rough week :))
This is my sanctuary, where light, life, and calm converge. Every corner holds my story, a private refuge to breathe, reflect, and recharge.
This is my sanctuary, where I start and end my day.
Coffee poured, meals made, small pauses taken between everything else.
A space shaped for care, rhythm, and the quiet act of tending to myself.
This is my sanctuary, where water washes away the day’s weight.
A quiet space for resetting, cleansing, and small rituals that refresh more than skin.
Bright, open, intentional, a pause that prepares me to start anew.

This abstract of fall colors is a little out of my comfort zone but I liked the vibrancy of the nearby trees and sky reflected in the water.
Bitterns having a hard time in winter when all waters are frozen. This one was looking for fish between the vegetation along a canal. Because of their hunger they need to leave their comfortzone and are more easily found. This one trusted on his camouflage and didn't move when someone with a dog came by....

It was the end of June and I was exhausted from work and too little sleep.
Being so tired reminded me of school and all the mornings when I was dreading the end of just two more minutes of sleep, promising myself that I would go to bed earlier that night. I curled up to you one last time this morning and already knew I couldn’t wait for the moment I would be back in the evening. But as I was leaving the house in my warmest sweater and the morning summer sun met my skin, I realized that, for whatever reason, sometimes small things like these make leaving your safe and warm comfort zone worth it.

Geheel buiten mijn comfortzone, en het is dan vermoedelijk een eenmalig zijstapje.
Completely outside my comfort zone, and it is probably a one-off side step.
Photo taken at a fair in my hometown. Totally out of my comfortzone. It was fun doing it and I like the result. Comments to learn more about evening photography are welcome.
My first castle MOC, its a little medieval forge. I started to build it because I wanted to contribute a MOC to the medieval project of the other BricktimeTeam members. After finishing the house and some parts of the environment, I lost the enthusiasm for this project. But two excellent castle experts, BoB and Wochenender, take care for it. They put the final touches to it and they also made these photos. Thanks a lot my friends.

Something totally out of my comfortzone, but I liked it very much and it's so appealing to produce more of those images...;
Thanks to all of you for your time, comments and favs. Truly appreciated
A bit out of my comfortzone this one. It was a cloudy and dull day so I had to overexpose quite a bit.
179/365
This was one of my main goal for starting my first 365 a year and a half ago.
I wanted to challenge myself to step out of my comfort zone.
By doing so I found out it's not all that scary to make portaits of people ;)
And I really love making them!
But it's also hard to step out of your comfort zone,
because you tend to slip back in old habits
and when your in there everything out of the bubble can look pretty scary.
Like obstacles that are to big to take.
But most of the time it's just fear holding us back!
I have to remind myself of that often!
So this photo is a reminder of the great adventures that are out there waiting to happen when you leave your comfort zone!
Go and be adventurous!

Nobody placed you in the crossroad to pick out the bad or worse
Now going for worse than what you expected, that can't be how it goes!
But all of these people, they told you so, so how could it possibly be?
That loosening the knot and going your own way will definitely set you free
