Swans on Market Lake remind me of the great need for us as people, societies, nations, and the world to come together. Hoping and praying that we can all just get along!
This work is dedicated to all the children in camps and the many children that live in horrendous poverty here in the USA, we can do better and we must do better.
All I have is tears for this situation and I am going to use my daughter's poem once again which describes my true feelings:
COMING TOGETHER
Asian, Latin, European, African,
Native, Indigenous, Foreign, Alien,
Descriptions that fall short,
vague splotches on the canvas of life.
All have but one heart that beats,
blood is but one color.
Flesh and Features, each unique
Organs and muscles, identical.
Each face a work of art
each mark distinctively it's own.
The beauty of our differences
far surpasses mere mortal comprehension.
Each unmatched culture,
its own vibrant combination of colors and sounds,
the pulsing of a nation, a people.
These different beats unite,
to make the music of our world.
As each exceptional voice blends with the other,
the harmony of humanity rises
high above the dark clouds of oppression and ignorance.
North, South, East, West,
a baby's cry is but the same.
The pang of hunger and indifference
changes not with skin color.
In the ears of every mother and father
every sister and brother
the cries of oppression should ring loud.
A call to action, a call to save our human family.
Our differences are but brush strokes on this canvas,
each unique in shape and color
when viewed together.....
form the masterpiece of mankind.

Assembly Sculpture by Peter Burke at Woolwich Arsenal. Installed 2005
Embedded in all of us is the ability to recognise and read the human figure from scant visual information. In this work Burke has sought to depict a collective human presence with a series of defined spaces. Here shown is two of the figures of which there are Sixteen partial body moulds arranged as if coming together with the tightest concentration of figures in the middle of the group.
The material and forms draw on the artist's early involvement with engineering practice, and an appreciation of the aesthetic properties of functional engineering construction. The cast iron forms have been designed to be industrially produced and repeated to reflect the use of industrial production methods , and are bolted together using the convention for the joining of castings. Each figure is suggested by three out of the possible four assembled mould sections of a body cast, allowing the viewer visual entry and an opportunity to perceive it from the outside in, as if casting ones own body.
Assembly was conceived as an assembly of persons, of parts, and spaces, which can finally be assembled by the viewer and in turn pays homage to the proud history of the Woolwich Arsenal and all that worked there over the centuries.

tra la la. one thing i do know is that in the past 48 hours, i have broken two computers. the first was my macbook pro. it just crashed. sweet?! thank god for external harddrizzles. then i was using my stepdad's. which i proceeded to spill water on, as well as his piles of papers that seem very important... "goldman sachs CDP response rate", um whatever that is, yeah, i ruined it.
shit! gotta flee the country. oh, well, whaddya know.... how conveeeeenient....
