Only the day after posting did I notice the pale lower strata, visually aligned with the distant mesa. Can that transition line really be the high-water mark for Lake Powell? I am standing at the resort, far above the current marina, but arguably only a few meters above the original full pool level.

Another photo from that fearful day when Storm Arwen hit in November 2021. On storm days many local photographers head to Seaham harbour as the sight of big waves dwarfing the iconic black and white lighthouse look spectacular, That lighthouse stands at 10 metres, similar waves against the Roker pier at a height of 23 metres don’t look so dramatic. However on this day I was lucky to get this wave within the frame, it was Colossus.
Architecture , Colossus , Rotterdam
For those who have noticed.
Last week I've made a subtile remark in my upload that maybe, just maybe, it's time for architectural pictures. And I mean, heavy, modern , architectural shots.
Not my main idea, but one has to go with the flow, and some of you may know that my working location is not in the forests.
Sometimes one gets tired of working around the buildings to photograph a little piece of nature. So my friends, here it is, a new serie. Because it's rather new to me, comments and critiques are very welcome. Need to learn a lot, but my friends, I've got the scene covered.
I work in Rotterdam!
I thought about a title for this photo, and this was the only one that comes to mind, as this landscape near the Aiguille du Moine is indeed colossal. Gosh... we are so small!
Lens used:
Minolta md 35-70mm f/3.5 (Manual focus at 70mm f/8)
The backside of the Zuiderkerk (Southern Church) surrounded by scaffoldings and green nettings for reconstruction of cleaning work. This is indeed the same building as 'Fragile tower'. But now taken from the street just behind the church.
I also like the effect of the slightly visible surface of the green gauze on the right side of the building. That gave me in some way the thought it is only 2D instead of 3D like a huge background fabric for a play. But maybe that's just me... :-)
100x outdoor adventures #75
Not quite colossal as it used to be, but Rhodes harbour is now marked by two statues. In the background is Saint Nicholas Fortress, a 15th century fort turned lighthouse which is contrasting nicely with the super yachts in attendance.
A huge iceberg dwarfs a boat just off Cape Spear, Newfoundland. These icebergs are said to be 10,000 to 12,000 years old and have been travelling for 2-3 years prior to reaching this destination.
Might not be the biggest tree around but is certainly imposing when you are stood next to it. This was going to be a black and white conversion but I decided to keep it in colour due to all the wonderful autumnal misty tones.
Birds are my number one subject, but I’ve always had an interest in ancient history and art. I’m going to share a few photos of the artwork housed in the Palazzo dei Conservatori in Rome, the oldest public collection of art in the world, began in 1471.
The marble remains of Constantine the Great's colossal statue you see here were unearthed in the late 15th century and placed by Michelangelo in the Courtyard of the Palazzo, where they still remain.

A massive wave builds before finally colliding with the cliffs. Hope your all staying safe and thanks for looking. Jeff
mess tidals: they usually come in cycles, so that once in a while you are forced to have a go at restoring a clean visual space for the benefit of the already confused mind. so: take everything away, stick it just elsewhere out of sight.
the aftermath is usually three or four days of a table that looks like the mesas. you can actually sit there and write without things falling off the edges.
then, shyly, a scrap of paper or two, a book, two packs of cigarettes, a lighter, an half-filled cup of coffee, water glasses, a notebook, spam mail that no one is brave enough to throw away directly. the invasion begins anew.
and: you manage not to find things that were supposed to be important again. up until you convince yourself they were not important.
months later:
crawling through old boxes and bags: scraps of paper mostly, artefacts that the dust has long since started devouring and/or cloaking. pencil lines have turned paler. just below a drawing (a stickman about to enter in a room, the room displayed through a door, a handful of spirals in its rectangle) a quickly jolted down note, a rather meaningless thing brought back from that night's dream:
a man says: "this site is evaporating"
it's easier to stumble somehow. you also get to scream and swear once you touch the ground.
