Gillis matured over the course of the series until he is almost unrecognizable in this final work. Rockwell created a good ending for the series by depicting Gillis relaxing while studying at college. We know that things ended well for him, It didn’t for so many others.

For some unknown reason....my husband decided to start cleaning out the attic yesterday. Oh my goodness....we found some old... old.... things. Guess that's to be expected when you've lived in the same house for 35 years. These are my text books when I went to business school......1963.....typing, business law, shorthand and an English handbook. I know they should have gone in the trash.....but for some reason....I just couldn't do it. Maybe tomorrow....

After asking a number of professors and students about which history textbooks they like most, we've finally come up with a list.
A small sampling of my text books.
*The bottom three 'course readers' are marked for your viewing pleasure with their appropriate titles.
*Volume 2 of 'Politics' is not yet available.
*Two books are missing because they are "either no longer in print or out of stock" at the bookstore. The professor said he'll "work on that. There are ways...," he says.
*This does not inlcude the various 'primary sources' handouts that I must print from the internet.
I really love that my German Professor creates her own textbook. That's what I call a great and engaging teacher.
