Ιερά Μονή Τιμίου Προδρόμου Συκής
Η Ιερά Μονή ευρίσκεται σε μια πλαγιά του Νοτιοανατολικού Πηλίου. Απέναντί της εκτείνεται το Αιγαίον Πέλαγος, όπου διακρίνονται τα νησιά Σκιάθος, Σκόπελος, Αλόννησος. Έτος ιδρύσεώς της φέρεται το 1795 και λογίζονται κτήτορες οι Ιερομόναχοι Δαβίδ και Δαμασκηνός και ο οπλαρχηγός της Επαναστάσεως του Πηλίου Στέργιος Μπασδέκης.
Εξ αρχής της ιδρύσεώς της η Μονή υπήρξε ανδρική, με πολλή κτηματική περιουσία -εκ δωρεών κυρίως των πιστών- που έφθανε ως τη θάλασσα. Οι Μοναχοί ασχολούνταν κυρίως με τα κτήματα και την εκτροφή ζώων. Υπήρχαν γύρω από τη Μονή περί τα χίλια ελαιόδενδρα και πολλά συκοπερίβολα. Καταγίνονταν δε και με την καλλιέργεια σιτηρών και φάβας.
Το αρχικό κτήριο απετελείτο από το ισόγειο με το Μαγειρείο, το ελαιοτριβείο -σώζονται οι ελαιόπετρες- και τις αποθήκες, και από τον πρώτο όροφο με το αρχονταρίκι και τα κελλιά.
Το καθολικό, ο Ιερός Ναός του Τιμίου Ενδόξου Προφήτου Προδρόμου και Βαπτιστού Ιωάννου, είναι τρίκογχο, αθωνίτικου τύπου και ρυθμού με νάρθηκα. Έχει μικρό οκταγωνικό τρούλλο χωρίς παράθυρα και η οροφή του νάρθηκα σχηματίζει θόλο από πωρόλιθο. Δεξιά και αριστερά της πόρτας του Καθολικού υπάρχουν εντοιχισμένες επιγραφές. Ο Ναός είναι κτισμένος με λευκή τετραγωνισμένη πέτρα και οι τοίχοι είναι διακοσμημένοι με ανάγλυφες παραστάσεις σταυρών, δικέφαλων, αγίων. Η Ιερά Μονή λειτούργησε μέχρι το 1914 ως ανδρική, οπότε έκλεισε και έμεινε κλειστή για 70 χρόνια. Η αγάπη όμως προς τη Μονή των κατοίκων της Συκής, εύρισκε τρόπους, έστω και στοιχειώδους συντηρήσεώς της.
Το έτος 1984 η Μονή επαναλειτούργησε, και με Προεδρικό Διάταγμα μετετράπη σε Γυναικεία. Επί 22 έτη, μέχρι σήμερα, εκτελούνται έργα οικοδομικά σ' αυτή· Ανακαίνιση παλαιού κτιρίου και ανέγερση δύο νέων πτερύγων με κελλιά, εργαστήρια, Αρχονταρίκι, και το παρεκκλήσιο του Αγίου Νεκταρίου, με την ηθική και οικονομική συμπαράσταση της Εκκλησίας, των πιστών, αλλά και του κράτους. Πολλοί φίλοι της Μονής προσέφεραν με αγάπη, αφοσίωση και αφιλοκερδώς στις ποικίλες ανάγκες και εργασίες της και προέβησαν σε πολλές δωρεές, σχετικώς με τον εξοπλισμό της Μονής.
Καινούργια η σημερινή όψη της Μονής με τις νέες απαραίτητες κτηριακές εγκαταστάσεις, τον εξωραϊσμό των εσωτερικών και εξωτερικών χώρων, τη διακόσμηση του Ιερού Ναού του Τιμίου Προδρόμου με τοιχογραφίες.
Παράλληλα με το κυρίως έργο των Μοναζουσών, που είναι η προσευχή και η λατρεία διά των Ακολουθιών στον Ιερό Ναό, άλλες ασχολίες είναι η Αγιογραφία, το Χρυσοκέντημα, τα Χειροτεχνήματα της Εκθέσεως, η Κηπουρική, η περιποίηση του Ναού και του Αρχονταρικίου, η διεκπεραίωση διαφόρων γραφικών Υπηρεσιών.
Θαυματουργή η εικόνα του Τιμίου Προδρόμου, ο οποίος είναι ο Μέγας Προστάτης της Μονής. Μέσα στο θαύμα της προστασίας Του ζουν και κινούνται οι Μοναχές. Αρκετά θαύματα αναφέρονται στον Άγιο Πρόδρομο, γι' αυτό και η Μονή έχει γίνει προσκύνημα σε όλο το νότιο Πήλιο, αλλά και στον ευρύτερο χώρο της Μαγνησίας.
Πανηγυρίζει με λαμπρότητα στις 29 Αυγούστου.
Το Μοναστήρι του Τιμίου Προδρόμου χαρακτηρίστηκε διατηρητέο Μνημείο το 1976, με απόφαση του Υπουργείου Πολιτισμού και Επιστημών. Ηγουμένη είναι η Αγαθοφήμη Δήμου και η αδελφότητα αριθμεί 12 μοναχές.
