I’ve finished a beautiful week of relaxing on the Coral Coast of Fiji. This was actually the first time in memory where I have left home with the intention of doing nothing. Any time I have travelled to a destination it has (usually been cold) involved some degree of explorative hard work, a few long drives or a snowboard…
A week of sun, surf and pool side beers was a very welcome change and to be honest, I could kind of get the hand of it.
I almost didn’t take my camera and this most certainly was not a photography trip but….
Anyway - back to reality :)

This one is taken near Galle, Sri Lanka. The tour guide said this traditional way of coconut rope manufacturing is fading out since it's very labour intensive and factories can do it much better. Sri Lankans use every bit of a coconut from farming to building houses!
In this photo the guy is pushing wet coconuts up a little stream to another worker who scoops it up into a machine.

"Coconut Sundae" Dianthus is a long flowering double dianthus bred by Whetman Pinks of the United Kingdom.It has a deep cherry center.It grows rapidly and in abundance in the springtime.
Coconut lorikeet (Trichoglossus haematodus) The coconut lorikeet is relatively similar looking to the rainbow lorikeet, however, it has a black belly, a noticeably shorter tail and a little less blue on its head. The coconut lorikeet can’t be found anywhere on the Australian mainland, but is widespread across New Guinea and in the north end of the Torres Strait Islands.

Coconuts are removed from the palms periodically by tree loppers because of the risk of them falling and causing injury. The marks on the tree trunk are from the tree loppers' boot spurs.
The term "coconut" (or the archaic "cocoanut") can refer to the whole coconut palm, the seed, or the fruit, which botanically is a drupe, not a nut. They are ubiquitous in coastal tropical regions and are a cultural icon of the tropics.

I'm a little late, but June 26th was National Coconut Day! It was founded in 2024 to promote awareness for its health benefits.
I looked up & spotted a cluster of coconuts growing in this gorgeous palm tree in Punta Cana.
The granules of coconut sugar, a great substitute for processed pure cane sugar. The frame total is 12mm square frame or 15/32 inch square frame, the spoon is 1/32 of a teaspoon, it is a novelty spoon that is stamped SMIDGEN.

The main body of the octopus is normally 8 centimeters (3 in) long and including the arms, approximately 15 centimeters (6 in) long. It is found in tropical waters of the western Pacific Ocean. Today, on our way from Bangkok to Ratchaburi, we drove through a region that is clearly dedicated to coconut palm cultivation (although I also spotted several banana plants between the rows).
And so, for at least 10 minutes, the road ran through a forest of coconut palms.
Even though I'm obviously aware that this isn't a normal forest but a plantation, for me, as a Central European, it was a quite unusual sight, one I simply wanted to capture.
Heute fuhren wir, auf dem Weg von Bangkok nach Ratchaburi durch eine Region, die sich offensichtlich dem Anbau von Kokospalmen verschrieben hat (auch wenn ich zwischen den Reihen auch noch diverse Bananenpflanzen entdecken konnte).
Und so verlief die Strasse für mindestens 10 Minuten durch einen Wald aus Kokospalmen.
Auch wenn ich mir natürlich darüber im Klaren bin, dass dies kein normaler Wald sondern eine Plantage ist, so war das für mich als Mitteleuropäer schon ein recht außergewöhnlicher Anblick, den ich einfach mal festhalten wollte.
