After a "cold" front had moved through South Florida Friday the weather forecast called for clear skies Saturday morning. Not really ideal for a sunrise shoot. But when I woke up at 4:20 am and checked the weather it was quite overcast and the forecast reported mostly to partly cloudy for the morning in the Jupiter area. So off I went at 4:45 am.
I should've left earlier, because by the time I got to the park it was already pretty light. The reason being I had to made a detour on A1A because the road was closed at Juno for an art festival and they couldn't announce that any sooner. No, why give anyone the heads up. Let them drive all the way up to the roadblock. Sheesh... So I got stuck there and had to go back to US-1, which cost some time.
And then the rocks I normally shoot were pretty much covered by sand and the waves kept washing over them. What happened to the outgoing tide? And low tide was supposed to be an hour or so after sunrise? I saw some rocks further up the beach and decided to check those out, doing so, lost more time.
By the time I set up I only managed to take one or two longish exposures, this is one of them. For the second one I already had to break out the GND filter to not blow out the sky.
Oh, and all those clouds? They disappeared by sunrise. Poof! Gone!

Whilst on holiday the iPhone informed us that there might be some cloud and rain.
If thats the case, I'm leaving the country if it says stormy weather.
Still didn't stop us has a good break, and gave me the chance of producing dramatic shots like this.

This ratty looking old holly tree is a koël magnet. Like a motorway café, it seems to be a refuelling stop for them when they arrive here on their migration from wherever it is that they depart; probably Hell because their cacophony would be too harsh — even for the damned — has caused their ejection.
Their mission is to parasitise the poor red wattle birds with their spawn before disappearing off the radar for a while. Typically they return to make further nuisance as fruits are ripened by Summer's progress. Always, always they are looking for something for nothing!
If there's an upside from the loss of most of the fruit crops to the late, monstrous frost, it is that they won't be feeding these devils. I might also be thankful that today the sky was a curiously cloudy affair, an irregular match for the wind, and not the impossibly bright blue and baking sun more typical of Spring's windy days. Had it been otherwise, this scene, with its resting female Eastern Koël would likely have been as much a nightmare as the 4am alarm clock of the koël wake-up call!
