Please help clean up the historic shoreline of Bear Creek where both the British and American set up defensive positions during the War of 1812, Battle of North Point. The British also used this location to evacuate their wounded and POW’s. This event will be run in conjunction with American Rivers, Trash Free Maryland and the International Ocean Conservancy as part of their International Coastal Cleanup Event.

Registration will be located at the intersection of Park Haven and Creek Road (Near Bear Creek Elementary School), Dundalk, MD 21222. Looks for the registration tents and the “Clean Bread and Cheese Creek Banners. Registration will open at 8:00 am, and the cleanup will run from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm.

We run our cleanups as a family event with plenty of ways for volunteers to participate. We welcome every type of person of every ability level to contribute and assist with the cleanup. Though it is true we will need people to dig out shopping carts and haul trash to the dumpsters, we need people to run water, food, tools, and trash bags (both empty and full) to individuals in the creek. People to sort recyclables from the debris removed. People will be needed to help at registration, setup food and snacks as well as many other less strenuous activities. We are also authorized to sign-off on Community Service and Service Learning Hours for students. The more people we have, the easier the work will be for everyone. We will provide lunch and snacks as well as gloves. A limited number of tools are available for sign-out, but suggest bringing your own if you have them.

Today’s Pearl district graffiti cleanup was a huge success with three community volunteers pitching in. Tom Tullai, John Banton and George Ranum of Vancouver, WA heard about Rogue’s graffiti removal efforts in the Oregonian’s Arts and Entertainment section and decided to get in on the action. Tom, John and George were thanked with Rogue gift bags and were ushered into the pub after the cleanup for a few pints. Outside Deschutes Brewery, the Rogue team caught the attention of diners and wait staff alike who gawked at the scene through restaurant windows. General Manager Mike Rowan even came outside to check out the action! His attempt at coercing us into cleaning the Deschutes bathroom was unsuccessful, but he did thank us for our community efforts.

Local residents gather to show support and find out how they can help with the cleanup after last night's riots.

Now that the river levels are starting to recede, it is the start of the cleanup. And man have they got a big job.

This all has to be done by hand to avoid further damage to the playing surface.

Sometimes you just gotta stop and clean your antenna :)

Tech specs: Canon 40D (F13, 1/250, ISO 100) + a Canon MPE-65mm macro lens (@ 2x) + an MT-24EX macro twin flash (-1 FEC).

Minutes after the crash, the crew of Feigned Ignorance made hasty repairs to their craft and took off, not even stopping at the first floor store to help pay for the repairs.

All was silent, and the townspeople began to clean up the damage. That is...

This day, my grandfather and I won both rounds in the team game. Here, he starts sweeping the table clean. Notice the pleasure in his face.

Taking part in an active environmental community is paramount which is why we not only organise our own beach cleanup events but also help out whenever we are invited to join other organisations or groups who organise events which share our goals and dreams!
