What was a common sight a couple of weeks ago in Calgary, is a common and continuous sight down in High River, 3 weeks after the flood.

Taking part in an active environmental community is paramount which is why we not only organise our own beach cleanup events but also help out whenever we are invited to join other organisations or groups who organise events which share our goals and dreams!

M-O : DOMO it aint working !

OLYMPUS DIGBread and Butter Stream Cleanup 6/8/18: We had perfect weather on Friday, June 8, 2018, to work with over 65 volunteers as we 145 trash bags with litter and debris removed from Bread and Butter stream and the surrounding fields behind the shopping centers!!! This included 6 tires, 2 shopping cards. A coffee table, an end stand, a bucket full of cement, a drive shaft and a manhole cover from the bottom of the stream! Thank you everyone so very much for all your incredible hard work today! Thank to everyone who volunteered with us today.

We would also like to thank the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, American Rivers, National Public Lands Day and Trash Free Maryland for all their assistance and support on this cleanup. We also wish to thank Pat’s Pizzeria for donating pizza to feed our hardworking volunteers as well as Tradepoint Atlantic and generous donations allowing is to purchase much needed supplies! We would also like to thank Deloitte, Morgan Stanley, Golda Och Academy and all the wonderful volunteers from the community who came out to help!

The Patapsco Heritage Greenway hosted a cleanup day at the Avalon Area to continue restoration efforts from the flood in late July.

Community cleanup at McKendree

More than 700 volunteers cleared the James River and its banks of trash and recyclables on Sept. 10, 2016. The cleanup covered 17 sites in the cities of Richmond, Newport News, Petersburg and Lynchburg, and Chesterfield, Henrico, Goochland, Powhatan, Appomattox, Buckingham, Charles City and Isle of Wight counties. This is the 17th year for the cleanup, which is organized by the James River Advisory Council, jrac-va.org.

When people started leaving (and forgetting) items in the pantry fridge, the notes popped up that a cleanup would take place every Friday. "Every" Friday turned into "whenever we remember" so it can get pretty bad.

 

The latest batch of signs, however, was actually met with a response.

There was a band and lunch after the cleanup. We had a lot of fun.

The city of Jhb, South Africa, has embarked on a massive cleanup campaign in the inner city that targets unregistered businesses, slumlords, drug dealers and prostitutes in a bid to spruce up the city's image ahead of 2010 world cup.
