This photo is taken from Beckley USA, which has the following caption. Having finished the highest grade possible in any Beckley school, these classmen in the spring of 1900 promptly disported themselves off of what is now East Main Street to have a photographic record made of the event. The following fall, most, if not all, of them enrolled in the new Beckley Seminary just opening up the same year with complete high and normal school curriculum. From left: Bess Lemon (Mrs. Silas Gore); Bess Willis (Mrs. Charley Tucker); Stella Lemon (Mrs. “Squire Bill” Ford); Nora Lee Ball (Burton); George W. Willis. The back row, zigzag: Jane Kay (Ford); Hal M. Scott; Ophia Ellison (Bumgardner); Zeta Williams (Walker); John Williams (photo gallery with his brother Louie); Lucy Maxwell (Quesenberry); Ad Williams (Layden).
