For Macro Mondays - Citrus.
The new seasons crop is developing on our tree now, Washington Navels, so the new oranges are indeed green. The green oranges are about 1 1/4 inches diameter.
Happy Macro Monday!

Macro Mondays ..... Theme Citrus
Lemon ,lime and orange ............
Thanks for the views, faves and comments, very much appreciated .
Jasper says the oranges should be fully ripened sometime in January. He's got a very discerning nose. Though he just inspects the fruit for us - he's not much of a citrus dog. Too bad because we've got 2 grapefruit, 2 orange, a tangelo, a lemon and a lime tree in our yard. No scurvy in our household.
Almond Citrus Cake
1 small to medium orange
1 lemon
¾ cup almond meal
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
4 eggs
½ teaspoon salt
1 ½ cups sugar
⅔ cup quality olive oil
Confectioners’ sugar
candied citrus slices
1.Place the orange and the lemon in a saucepan, and cover with water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat and simmer for 30 minutes. Drain and cool.
Cut the lemon and orange in half, and discard the pulp and seeds. Purée the fruits in a food processor. (Best done a day ahead.)
2.Set oven to 350 degrees, and grease a 9-inch spring-form pan.
In a small bowl, whisk the flour, baking powder and almond flour.
In a large bowl, combine eggs and salt. Beat until foamy. Beat in the sugar.
Fold in the flour mixture. Add the citrus, almonds and olive oil, and beat on low speed until incorporated. Pour the batter into the pan, and bake for about 55 minutes. Let cool, un-mold and dust with confectioners’ sugar and candied orange slices.
Candied orange slices:
3 Cups water
3 cups sugar
2-3 oranges, thinly sliced into rounds
1.Bring sugar and 3 cups water to a simmer in pot, stirring until sugar has dissolved. When liquid is clear and bubbling, reduce heat to medium-low. Add citrus slices. (I weigh them down with a canning jar.) Simmer (do not boil) until rinds are almost translucent, about 40 minutes. Let cool completely in syrup.
Candied citrus slices can be stored in syrup up to 1 week.
Save syrup: You may add your favorite liqueur to it and drizzle some on the cake.
2.Line a baking sheet with parchment paper; set a wire rack over sheet. Transfer candied citrus to rack. Let stand until dry and slightly firm, about 8 hours.

"If the world could remain within a frame
Like a painting on a wall,
Then I think we would see the beauty, then
We would stand staring in awe
At our still lives posed
Like a bowl of oranges,
Like a story told
By the fault lines and the soil."

"The thing I've learned is it's good to restrict your palette somewhat. I will try and, say, use two or three instruments on one track. You learn, after a while, they're all good at certain things and other things fall outside of the natural areas they work well in, so I tend to stick with what they do best."

For the Macro Mondays them of "Citrus" and not having a definite idea of what I would do until the Monday morning I decided to cut a Lemon in half which I would hollow out and fill with water. I had thought about dropping a Lemon or Lime segment into a small shot glass but shortly before setting up I had the idea of using the Lemon this way.
Next I chopped a Lime into segments which I would drop into the Lemon so I could photograph these and the resulting splash.
I had decided to focus the short side of my frame to the three inch rule with the camera in portrait orientation to try and make sure I caught splashes that went directly upwards, This would then mean I had to present my composition as a square. Ironically here a splash is just going off to the right which just gets missed right at the end.
