The city of Guimarães is historically associated with the foundation of Portuguese nationality and identity. Guimarães (among other villages) precedes and prepares the foundation of Portugal, being known as "The Cradle of the Portuguese Nation". Here took place in 1128 the main political events. Um lugar de paz e sossego
A primeira impressão de quem chega à entrada da Barra de Cunhaú é a de estar diante de uma enorme lagoa de água doce, em vez do Oceano Atlântico. O rio, protegido dos ventos, é tranqüila e quase sem ondas. São 5 quilômetros de dunas e praias por onde serpenteiam os rios Cunhaú e Catu, tendo ao fundo milhares de coqueiros. Ali está também uma das jóias ecológicas do litoral potiguar: um grande manguezal funciona como um grande viveiro de ostras, caranguejos e outros animais marinhos.

"This neighborhood emerged around the 18th century, belonging to the lands of the Casa Forte sugar mill. At first, it was a simple village amidst large sugar cane plantations. However, from 1746 onwards, this profile began to change. At that time, a major cholera epidemic took over Recife and some doctors announced that bathing in the stretch of the Capibaribe River that ran through the village during the summer was a miraculous remedy for the disease. The news spread very quickly and caused this region to become a popular destination for the wealthy of Recife, who soon built large summer houses there."

is a town located in the centre of a massive volcanic crater five kilometres across. From the high up vantage point on the edge of the crater, the vie as solid cloud, driving down the crater side in our hired car, we ducked under the cloud and saw the sun on the crater.

Very common in the region, these rodents (mocós) hide among the rocks and watch the visitors.
Bem comum na região os mocós se escondem por entre as pedras e ficam observando os visitantes.
