Ambrai Restaurant is one of the hottest eating places in Udaipur, Rajasthan. It is open all days for breakfast, lunch and dinner, lies directly opposite of the City Palace, on the other site of the lake. But it's easy to reach on foot. You just have to cross the little pedestrian bridge and turn the next street left. That street you have to follow to the end and there is the restaurant on the left hand side.

In the evening you'll sit with candle light and a beautiful view onto the Lake Palace Hotel and the City Palace. Both places are lighted and will give you some great snapshots, which you'll always remember as a "romantic" dinner... if you visit this place with your girl- or boyfriend.

Further on this is a very popular place to eat their unbeatable tandoori.

And this is the secret location from where I shot all those nice reflection of Udaipur palace and city :) tr is a small path which you can spot near the gate of Ambrai , take that path and end of that path will reward you with this site and other sites which I have attached in the comment again for reference :)

This is how the Lake Palace Udaipur , looka like at night :)

Maharaja Jagat Singh built this beautiful palace in the year 1743. Earlier, it was regarded as the royal summer palace. But, later it was transformed into five star palace hotel. This splendid palace is known for intricate craftsmanship and unique themes regarding handicrafts and textiles. The stay is costly so if you still want to see a bit of the Palace you can always visit for Lunch and Dinner :)

Ranakpur is a must visit palace in the great Aravalies, the valley provides a picturesque view. People from all around the world came here to see the Ranakpur Jain Temple. Ranakpur is situated on the Udaipur - Jodhpur highway.

The complex is of interest to gardeners on account of the 600 year-old Sacred Tree in the main temple courtyard. The whole temple is build around this tree, Jain temples are renowned for the sensitivity with which they are designed in relation to the surrounding landscape. Jainism does not include a belief in a supreme being or creator: it sees the natural world as governed by laws based on the interplay of attributes (gunas) of the substances (dravyas) which comprise the cosmos. Jainism teaches that nature is Interdependendent - so that if one does not care for nature one does not care for oneself. This principle is represented by the visual harmony between the Ranakpur temples and their setting.

So they never cut down the tree and when you see this you are overcome with awe at its intricacy and beauty and how well it is a part of the temple itself.

Good night and have a great Sunday :)

This couple we met on the way back from the fort of Chittorgarh , These guys have a small Tea stall and they do make some amazing tea :) the light from street lamp was nice tr and I thought i can shoot them up as a family for which they readily agreed these are few of the shots where I have requested people to stand for me .. What i wanted to capture was contended happiness in tr faces :) ..

You don't have to be rich to be happy all u need to be is just self sufficient.. These guys don't have a postal address they don't even have a house ! they sleep next the mobile Tea stall. I decided to send them the picture but when I asked them the address they were confused coz no one has ever send them anything.. they kept saying mark it as in front of this house and next to this house on this main road !!! I had no heart to say anything and I said ok no problem but when I walked by, I felt how we take few things for granted like our house address or the money we make .. for some even these small things are big change...

:) anyway here is a happy family who bring cheers to others life by making some amazing tea right at the exit of chittorgarh fort if you ever pass by then go taste the tea :D

This was a weird but real bright sunset with Aravalli mountains as backdrop. The sky was really this saturated ! :) this was taken with my 200mm L II USM.

Next time a sunrise steals your breath or a meadow of flowers leave you speechless, remain that way. Say nothing, and listen as heaven whispers, "Do you like it? I did it just for you."

These birds are just so smart they learn to be cute and come close to u and eat food and escape :P just coz tr cuteness u don't feel like harming them :) and esp this bird is so stylish in its walk :) u got to see .. when she walks .... My Friend Kedar ..calls it the Beauty queen doing ramp walk :P

but like all other landscapes, the charm doesn't fades on a nearer approach, and the beauty still remains enticing in Udaipur that's some achievement on the part of King's vision who build this city !

Structure in middle of lake : Jag Mandir

Jag Mandir is an island palace situated on an island in Lake Pichola (Udaipur city, Rajasthan, India. It was built in the 17th century and is one of main tourist attractions of Udaipur. Maharana of Udaipur gave shelter to Emperor Shah Jahan (Prince Khurram) here in 1623-24 when the later was hiding from his father .

Now its used for rich wedding's many of the rich personalities of bollywood and hollywood have got married here. " Thats the touristy bit of info :D "

This shot was taken in Udaipur where this ancient temple turned the evening into something much more holier then usual .. the clouds felt like were originating from the top of the temple :) and flaming across the sky .. ( Visualization Kedar who noted this once he saw the shot ) While clicking I didn't notice this.. i was concentrating on the temple and trying to include as much clouds as possible :)

Many of us always leave after the sunset is over but the real magic in the clouds is just after sunset about 20 mins after it when the clouds turn into these shades of pink and orange :D so next time you see an awesome sunset.. linger around for a while and see the magic unfold

Because when you land in Udaipur, You realize that land is not made beautiful just by god but by the King's vision and the people of Udaipur who make it such a beautiful and romantic place right from the lake , The lake palace, The summer palace, The official Palace and just everything to do with the landscape and a choice of building this city in valley of mountains works so well to give you breathtaking sunrise and sunset..

But if that was not enough they build this ropeway which is to enhance the experience of the view

Ropeway is newly introduced and is most important tourist attraction. It is installed between two mountains right on the bank of Lake Pichola. The view from the Gondolas is breath taking and if you have passion for photography you must not miss this. It is from here that you can click best view of Udaipur including Lake Pichola, Lake Fateh Sagar, magnificent City Palace complex, Sajjangarh Fort and above all artistic landscaped Aravali mountains on the other side of the lake. Do not miss the sun setting across lush green Aravali Hills across Lake Pichola.

It takes no time to visit ropeway being in the heart of the City. It is located in the main tourist area and can be best visited in the evenings followed by mouth watering cuisines served to your taste at very affordable rates at the Sun set point atop Machhala Hill.

Bhavai is a genre of folk dance popular in Rajasthan state in western India. The male or female performers balance a number of earthen pots or brass pitchers as they dance nimbly, pirouetting and then swaying with the soles of their feet perched on the top of a glass, on the edge of the sword or on the rim of a brass thali (plate) during the performance.

Traditionally, this genre of dance was performed by the female performers belonging to the Jat, Bhil, Raigar, Meena, Kumhar, and Kalbelia communities of Rajasthan. It is assumed that this genre of dance was evolved from the exceptional balancing skills of the females of these communities developed to carry a number of pots of water on head over a long distance in the desert.

If you are curious to see how this dance is done check out this crazy vedio it has more variation then we saw that day the vedio might be a bit low but still might amaze the dance of this super women ;) Dance video

She started with 1 pot and ended up with 10 !!! it was just out right crazy to watch :D and she walked on broken glasses !! and a brass plate

May be thats why on flickr you see less criticism and more praise ??? or is due to this 2nd quote :P

“If one is forever cautious, can one remain a human being?” ;) lol

Have a great day :) oh yeah this beauty queen sure has her way of walk but like all ladies :) she was curious of the click sound and came too close to me and gave me this nice pose :P

OH Happy children's day :)

OMG check this my flickr in black This is so much better

Thats exactly what we did, woke up early morning and went on top of the best guest house in Udaipur "Lalghat guest house" which is located just at the right spot to watch sunset and sunrise ;)

And as Jan Denise Quoted ~

"Watching the sun rise over the Mountain is making it easy for me to wake up and get out of bed. I'm not jumping up to take a shower or go to work. I'm jumping up to greet the majesty of the day, of God, of me. The majesty reminds me that God's in his hea... and so am I. And, heaven is a lovely place to start the day, a lovely place to live.

Fun Fact: The guy in the frame is my good friend Kedar who was along with me on this crazy 14 days trip to Rajasthan and he being a fashion designer enjoys the simple things in life and would be lost at the beauty of things and totally cut of from the world around him :P sooo that kinda worked for me a lot coz he would just stand or look deep into things and be lost and I could easily frame him without his knowledge .. I should say he was a good model all thru the trip without being aware of it & I Never showed him the shots I took so , haha he sees them now and gets surprised :P

And this women in Rajasthan had more life then many I have met. She was easy 70+ but never complained about walking or wanting a seat to sit. She got into the Bus while we were on the way to Kumbhalgarh fort .

She got into the already over crowded bus and just happily sat down on a luggage and smiled around and asked where i was going and kept talking about some nice stories from villages and her grandkids :) .What impressed me was inspite of being very poor she was dressed so well and most striking part was her big nose ring

Best part she had no complaints about her life !! no worry line on her forehead !! how many of us can even imagine living up to her age :P Life was simple before I guess we just made it more complicated these days :P

I promise you guys I didn't tell her how to sit or pose.. these kid saw me clicking pictures of another kid and came to me and said can i click her picture.. and i just said ok go and sit on that platform. !

And there she went with the elegance of a beauty contest model sat and arranged her dress in this way and sat and posed.. for a moment my jaw dropped ! i was like woa ! i tell grown up girls to pose this way and it takes so many takes for them to sit properly .. ( No exaggeration ) ,,But this kid just went sat and there she was that alluring model .

I wish she grows up to be a stunning model someday she has all the quality of being a dusky beauty ..

The quote by Emily Dickinson made sense to me first time when I saw sunrise like this ! this shot is SOOC .

This location is a classic example of how a single location can be used for different kind of sunrise shots.. All 3 days I stayed at Udaipur i woke up to catch the sunrise and boy oh boy each day it was a exercise to come up with new idea to shoot, And it was not that difficult with nature doing its thing.. And on 3rd day i was shocked when i saw this sight which .... surprisingly i never noticed in past 2 days of shoot I never looked down at the city , was always stuck with the sun the cloud the birds and mountain.

But on 3rd day i look down at city and i see this sight of layers unfolding with the sunrise. and for a while I just lost all sense of time and place .. and just stood there going WOW OMG WOW !!

Tip: Never ever miss sunrise or sunset in Udaipur its one of the best location to shoot them.

An exposition of stillness of the desert evening and the upsurge of life in the short-lived rainy season or spring are filled with rhythmic dance found in almost limitless variations in Rajasthan. The colourful people of Rajasthan live life to the hilt. After hard work in the unrelenting, harsh desert sun and the rocky terrain, they seek a respite from their exhausting work by letting themselves enthrall. Their evocative and soulful music provides the perfect accompaniment to their vigorous and unsophisticated dancing.

Chari: It is one of the most impressive folk dances of Rajasthan involving graceful hand and foot movements whilst balancing brass pots on the heads of the dancers. To provide a dramatic effect to the dance, the dancers place ignited cottonseed on the brass pot.

Light, especially sunlight, has such a potent effect on your body's internal clock, or circadian rhythms, that you can use it to reset your sleep cycle, says Phyllis C. Zee, MD, PhD, director of the Sleep Disorders Center at Northwestern University.

"If you tend to be a night owl who can't get to sleep until 1 a.m., you may have delayed circadian rhythms. To shift to an earlier schedule -- and make it easier to get to bed and get up on time -- soak up as much sunlight as possible between 6 and 8 a.m." Force yourself to wake up early and sit in a sunny room or take a post-sunrise walk. When it's warm, try eating breakfast outdoors. Basking in early-morning rays prompts your body to suppress production of melatonin -- the sleep hormone -- during the day and release it earlier in the evening, so falling asleep isn't such a struggle.

Well I guess I start doing it :) coz frankly when I am out of city I always wake up early to catch sunrise but when I return to city :P I become a owl again :( :P I guess tr is many owl friends out tr isn't !

This was another SOOC shot pretty much the wow-est moment of sunrise, I do have lot of other shots which I tried planning and shooting will post them one at a time every morning :)

Its magical how even the boring mobile towers also merge with the landscape which looks as if taken from a Arabian Nights series, the old and new coexist and morning painter manages to paint it in such a way that you don't realize the difference and just get immersed in the morning glow :)

Ranakpur is a village located in Desuri tehsil near Sadri town in the Pali district of Rajasthan in western India. It is located between Jodhpur and Udaipur, in a valley on the western side of the Aravalli Range. Ranakpur is easily accessed by road from Udaipur and is widely known for its marble Jain temple

Light colored marble has been used for the construction of this grand temple which occupies an area of approximately 60 x 62 meters. The temple, with its distinctive domes, shikhara, turrets and cupolas rises majestically from the slope of a hill. Over 1444 marble pillars, carved in exquisite detail, support the temple. The pillars are all differently carved and no two pillars are the same.

The dating of this temple is controversial but it is largely considered to be anywhere between the late 14th to mid-15th centuries. Inspired by a dream of a celestial vehicle, Dhanna Shah, a Porwad, is said to have commissioned it, under the patronage of Rana Kumbha, then ruler of Mewar. The architect who oversaw the project is said to have been named Deepaka. There is an inscription on a pillar near the main shrine stating that in 1439 Deepaka, an architect, constructed the temple at the direction of Dharanka, a devoted Jain.

This temple was nominated as one of the top 77 wonders in a contest for the new seven wonders of the world.

Kedar my friend who was travel mate for this trip exclaimed and said "Oh this city looks like Petra in Jordan !! " Well i don't blame him for seeing it this way.. coz the city nearly looks like been carved out of this mountain the fort complex stretches from one of mountain to other .. its a shame that the Huge TV tower kind of brings down the magnitude of this fort., But when you are in this city you see fort and the helpful town people and the lovely haveli's u can stay at :D we stayed at a fabulous place called Kasera heritage view off session u can get a double room for as low as 300 INR :) per night and the rooms are clean beautiful and with Palace view :)

Here let me introduce you to the first barn swallow shot I could ever get :D

These buggers are fast and aerial insectivores so catching them in mid air was out of question and was frustrated and like the good luck i had all through my journey in Rajasthan i see this female barn sparrow fly and sit 4 feet away from me :P

Wire-tailed Swallow breeds in Africa south of the Sahara and in tropical southern Asia from the Indian subcontinent east to southeast Asia. It is mainly resident, but populations in Pakistan and northern India migrate further south in winter.

This bird is found in open country near water and human habitation. Wire-tailed Swallows are fast flyers and they generally feed on insects, especially flies, while airborne. They are typically seen low over water, with which they are more closely associated than most swallows.

Famed for their remarkable beauty and keen sense of honor, the women of Rajasthan have been the heroines of many a tragic legends and heroic episodes. Battles have been fought to preserve their virtue and yet Rajasthani women have shown a keen sense of diplomacy and valor whenever the need arose. Respect and conformity to age old traditions, a deep seated spiritualism and a rich sentiency defines these women.

City life we become so lazy that even to go to a shop which is like few meters far we would take the bike . But here in villages and remote parts people and kids walk so many miles/kms everyday

Fun fact : Birds in Rajasthan must be the easiest to shot by camera ! coz they just don't fear u at all this bird was 4 feet far from me I could have shot it with my 50mm if it was on my cam but i had 200mm mounted and I just had to walk a bit far and click this :P ..just imagine how shocking it was !! to see these birds sooo close !!!! down south if i try clicking them I got to be atleast 10 meters far :P and still they fly off :P

For a moment in all that joy and innocence I saw this side of her... each time I look at her face in this shot .. it tears me down into thinking what life she gonna have.. the still moment speaks out crying.. of the worry the hardship but then I see her next shot which I posted earlier and I feel :D with such joy in her life I do wish she has a great life ahead :D

Today is Poppy day, Lets observe a silence of 2 minutes at 11:00am, And may this arm race end

Remembrance Day – also known as Poppy Day, Armistice Day (the event it commemorates) or Veterans Day – is a day to commemorate the sacrifices of members of the armed forces and of civilians in times of war, specifically since the First World War. It is observed on 11 November to recall the end of World War I on that date in 1918. (Major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 with the German signing of the Armistice.)

Common British, Canadian, South African, and ANZAC traditions include two minutes of silence at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month (11:00 am, 11 November)

The poppy's significance to Remembrance Day is a result of Canadian military physician John McCrae's poem In Flanders Fields. The poppy emblem was chosen because of the poppies that bloomed across some of the worst battlefields of Flanders in World War I, their red colour an appropriate symbol for the bloodshed of trench warfare. An American YMCA Overseas War Secretaries employee, Moina Michael, was inspired to make 25 silk poppies based on McCrae's poem, which she distributed to attendees of the YMCA Overseas War Secretaries' Conference. She then made an effort to have the poppy adopted as a national symbol of remembrance, and succeeded in having the National American Legion Conference adopt it two years later. At this conference, a Frenchwoman, Anna E. Guérin, was inspired to introduce the widely used artificial poppies given out today.

A small number of people choose to wear white poppies, which they claim emphasises a desire for peaceful alternatives to military action.

The Eurasian Collared Dove, Streptopelia decaocto, also spelled Eurasian Collared-Dove or called simply the Collared Dove,is one of the great colonisers of the avian world. Its original range was warmer temperate regions from southeastern Europe to Japan. However, in the twentieth century it expanded across the rest of Europe, reaching as far west as Great Britain by 1953; breeding in Britain for the first time in 1956, and Ireland soon after. It also now breeds north of the Arctic Circle in Scandinavia. It is not migratory.

The males have an unusual mating display, consisting of a rapid nearly vertical climb to height, followed by a long glide downward in a spiral. At all other times, flight is typically direct without gliding. haha wonder why this suicidal display :P

Jagdish Mandir

Built by Maharana Jagat Singh I in 1651 the temple enshrines a black stone image of Lard Vishnu. There is a brass image of Garuda the Lord bird carrier. The exterior and the plinth are covered with base relief of alligators; elephants, horsemen and celestial musicians rise in tiers.

Chanting, bells and music can be heard throughout the day. It is the largest and most splendid temple of Udaipur.

Note : All of these reactions in less then 2 minutes :P it was suppose to be candid but then her parents didn't seem to mind so asked them permission to shoot her pictures and took these shots :)

So was the confusion with this kid and many more of us .. Ranakpur Jain temple is one of the most important pilgrim among the five prilgrims of the Jainism. It is perhaps the most Byzantine and massive of Jain temples in India, the area of the temples is about 40,000 square feet. The most dazzling highlight of this temple is the countless, forty feet high pillars. every one of those pillars are individually carved with its own design, and the resulting effect is nothing less than spectacular.

Science can tell us how it was build, But my question is why was it build .. in middle of nowhere ! why so much workmanship on temples .. I still don't get a convincing answer to Why such huge monuments are build across world .. why !

Fun fact : well this kid was walking around temple like this ! I am not sure if someone hit him or was he scared of the pigeons attacking him or was it fear of the rock structure above him might fall.

We decided to walk along the fort wall of Chittorgarh and was sweetly surprised as soon as I reached the end of wall which shares the border of the small wildlife reserve which I had no clue on .. we were just casually walking .. and suddenly i saw a single spoted Deer ! so asked Kedar to stay quit and then silently moved closer to the fence to shoot thru the fence.. and boy they could hear the click sound.. and yes theyyyy i saw more and more hopping and jumping and started to run but then they stopped ! and they did what they do best and what we photographer love about these deers

They always get curious and turn and look at you and thats such a lovely pose :) ok so here is a small exercise for you guys ... its actually a huge herd try and count and tell me how many spotted deers do you see in this shot .. look closely tr are many ! :D

Wonder how many Celebrated people around udaipur were loosing dignity :D in the view of this white dove :)

Whole of Rajasthan we saw white dove only in udaipur which is somehow classy coz this place has white lake palace hotel and consider to be romantic and this bird is always associated with love and peace :) it was irony or kind of weird that tr was only one white dove in sight all the time we were tr :)

i got few shot of this bird, which usually would fly and sit at the extreme end of my zoom always or at such close distance to me when i have the tele photo lens mounted so was real hard to shoot this bird :P
