View from earlier in the week of the Little Susitna River as sub zero temperatures have iced the river and caused overflow. The water or ice color in the winter has a green tint as it’s source is called the mint glacier. Calling for snow in the next few days so much of the river will be buried soon. Grey seal youngster enjoying the sunshine

This is Nano a Cockerpoo, though you can't see her face I find a peace to the picture.

We met Nano and her owner Natalie by chance last Sunday when youngsters - teenagers were taking part in he Duke of Edinburgh awards scheme. Natalie was supervising / overseeing and had parked by our house. We rarely see people here and Julie got chatting and invited them into the garden so Nano could run and play freely and set Natalie up with a deckchair and a vantage point where she could observe them in their groups. We all had a very pleasant couple of hours as the youngsters trudged wearily by.

We were on the west coast of Vancouver Island last week, and hiked in the very cold weather to Sombrio Beach and saw these surfers out in the frigid water as the sun was about to set .

I just got home from being off for two weeks, so will catch up with all of you as soon as I can.

This Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodias) seemed to be hunkered down against some unseasonably cold November temperatures on Wednesday at Michigan's Kensington Metropark. I liked the contrast created by the autumnal reflections on the water, cast by a stand of nearby trees that haven't yet dropped all of their redish brown leaves.
