"The shoe that you fall in love with"

Whilst walking the streets of Brockley, I saw these children's shoes on the wall of a front garden. The contrast of the colour of the shoes and the wet concrete wall with bits of moss works quite well.

215 shoes in memory of the 215 Indigenous children's remains recently found on the grounds of the former Kamloops, B.C. Indian Residential School, displayed on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

There were approximately 140 known residential schools across Canada, of which about 17 were in British Columbia.

Approximately 150,000 children were sent to residential schools but Canada has never done a full accounting of how many died there.

The final report from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, released in 2015, records 3,200 deaths, noting that the death rate for children in residential schools was much higher than that of other Canadian children. In the early 20th century, children in residential schools died at nearly four times the rate of those outside the schools.

Nearly three-quarters of the 130 residential schools were run by Roman Catholic missionary congregations, with others operated by the Presbyterian, Anglican and the United Church of Canada, which today is the largest Protestant denomination in the country.

Last night we were blessed with the

presence of 5 nieces and nephews.

Big Fun. Lots of energy all bundled up

in miniature busy busy little bodies ..;-)

This morning I found a number of shoes

scattered about along with a few toys ....

They were all carried away sound asleep by

their moms. In the next few days their moms

will stop by and recover everything left behind.

This is how it works around here, casual fun 4 all.

Enjoy ............... ;-)

Jon.
