COMUNIDAD MEXICANA EN CHICAGO

Día de Muertos, tradición mexicana que trasciende en el tiempo

Día de Muertos, una celebración a la memoria y un ritual que privilegia el recuerdo sobre el olvido.

My modus operandi is; location, location, location, then wait for an interesting character to augment the scene. Just like fishing.

Sure Chicago has gorgeous architecture and facades, but it's underbelly has beauty as well.

Here I was attracted by the two triangles and deep perspective.

In between lights I would pop out into the street and wait for a break in traffic. Instead I was rewarded by this beautiful angel strolling into frame.

I particularly like the triangle formed by the three people in the shot. The guy on the left is wondering, who's that dude crouching in the intersection?

In Chicago's Millenium Park is the Bean, its awesome and even better on a warn sunny day

Underneath the Chicago 'L' (short for "elevated") is the rapid transit system. Best photographed before the traffic gets busy.

This image was taken about 6am after overnight rain. This is what I get up to when jet-lagged!

Euclidean Chicago

This was shot on through a not-so=clean glass barrier on the top of the hotel we were staying in. If you look closely, you can see a reflection in the glass of another building that must have been behind me.

In some areas of downtown they just built "over" existing structures.......

So many street corners like this downtown, with the "L" thundering overhead and residential and commercial properties jostling for space. Love it!

My view from the DuSable Bridge downtown. Didn't have many decent shots on the Canon because of serious rain and wind that day.

This morning proved to be the final morning of a particularly long and hard winter in Chicago.

Light swirls! The boat that left these light trails can be seen in center of my last upload. Once we crossed the river, the boat was loaded with tourists and was starting the river tour. 21

I scorned this shot for a long time. I thought it was very overdone. Every Chicago photographer has taken this picture probably at least 10 times. I also couldn't spend the time to keep going back to this spot, always hoping for the right weather leading to a unique shot.

Eventually, I gave in. I like this picture. The reason I think this shot works for me is because it was taken with a wide angle lens, which allowed the lights reflected in the water to stretch further than I have seen before. I had to get down within an inch of the water, and I used the ground as a tripod -- again. I really should take it with me more often. Oh well.
