Chesapeake & Ohio’s General Electric power didn’t seem to weather nearly as well as its EMD units. A typical contrast can be seen between U30B 8228 and GP40-2 4262 on adjacent turntable tracks at Charlottesville, Virginia.
I took this capture at f/22 to get some nice sharp light stars. To keep the exposure shorter in the 3 minute range, increased the ISO to 400.
I liked the over results and also liked the mix of lighting here on the scene.
Taken along a cove off of the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland.
Silent calm evening on the Chesapeake Bay during blue hour. This is a stitch of two captures taken there for the wider view. I also took a third capture that shows further to the right with more of the tree and tall grass ... will see how all three work stitched together.
Today I was visiting a project site for work and took a bunch of photos for a project we are starting ... and was also able to snap a couple shots from the shore of the Chesapeake Bay to get a unique take and point of view of the bay bridges. It was gray and overcast, so really liked taking this into monochrome.
It was also great to see several of my engineering and architect staff in person at the project site, versus virtually.
The Chesapeake Bay Bridge in Maryland. Ranked the ninth scariest bridge in the world. Typically each span carries one way traffic in different directions. The bridge is over 4 miles long, and connects rural Eastern Maryland to the suburbs of Washington DC and Baltimore.

This spectacular tree on the beach provided much needed shade for my niece Ellie's wedding on Saturday - HTMT!
Some kid in Hinton, West Virginia had the perfect situation for a very young railfan. Not only could he watch the heavy traffic on the Chesapeake & Ohio main line from his property, he could do so while riding his own backyard railroad.
