Serie: "Die Alchemisten"

Amsterdam NEMO Museum BuildingThe four floors of NEMO Amsterdam is a stimulating scene. Children of different ages have fun with giant soap bubbles and experiment in the chemistry lab. Grown-ups, with or without children of their own, have fun at NEMO too. It’s hard to hold back when presented with all the gadgets and experiments.

Reflection of refineries and its chimney during the on fire sunset golden hour moment at Rotterdam, Netherlands

A quiet portrait in the place where ideas become materials.

I got a more basic chemistry kit for Christmas about 1955.

It had experiments such as seeing if blue Litmus paper

turned red which would indicate the presence of acid.

Berlin...city that has it it all. Nice people, great times, good food & drinks and....awesome locations to explore!

Like this abandoned chemistry lab. This is easy we thought, the gate's open and we walk right in. We explored the big main building, wich was a bit of a dissapointment, we thought there was more stuff left behind.

We went around the back to check out if there where any more buildings. We found two little cabin like buildings and a guy asking us what we hell we where doing here.

We told him we're taking pictures bla bla bla He tells us to get off before he calls the owner. So we walked back out, smoked a sigaret and climbed the gate that the guy closed after us. We're back on the site and heading for the two cabin buildings and it was worth it.

A chemistry lab... once bustling with excited students discovering tried and tested experiments, now left abandoned.

This photo wasn't setup in advance; the superman and chemistry lab kit were on-display, and the photo was shot while walking through the Flower Child shop in Columbus, Ohio. The store stocks everything vintage from the 30's through 70's; lots of cool stuff.

Photo was during the Columbus Flickr Meet during the Gallery Hop stroll.

I'm sharing this photo in honor of the anniversary of Thomas Edison's passing 80 years ago on 18 October 1931. Edison's chemistry lab stands frozen in time, everything left in its place.

My son and I are obsessed with light, time, matter, and I could go on and really let my nerd show, but I won't! Just know we're nerds when it comes to Edison, Tesla, Einstein (my son share's his birthday), CERN, and all that nerdy stuff. Unfortunately, my mom and hubby don't share our enthusiasm so I don't think this place was as exciting for them as it was for us.

The chemistry lab in the 1985 building, Custer County District High School, Miles City, Montana. It was summertime so the lab was looking a little disorganized without class in session.

FDA's mobile laboratories are part of the agency's nationwide network of laboratories, where scientists are continually testing food and drugs for contaminants. This 34-foot command center, outfitted in a modified motor home, is shown here near its base of operations in Jefferson, Arkansas. Two other units, the sample preparation unit and the analytical unit, complete the lab. Learn more at www.fda.gov
