Reuben Smith entombed sitting in a leather recliner with a checkboard on his lap. Of the 2 keys to the tomb door, one was destroyed after the door was locked, and the other put in his pocket so he could exit on Judgement Day.

Panoramic view of west corner of the Taj Mahal, early morning. Cold and foggy!

Outtake for Macro Monday's "Texture" theme. I wanted my "official" entry to be all about the texture, and the texture only, sharp from corner to corner. But I also like the 3D effect the blur creates here on this tea towel (not mine, shot at a shop). I hope you like it, too.

Thank you very much for your comments and faves, I highly appreciate them, and I'll try to answer them, certainly with a fav ;-)

On the way out of Zion towards Kanab (East Entrance), we stopped in the evening close to the Checkboard Mesa to take in the view

Album : 747 / Hong Kong.

After flying passenger 747 services for 37 years Hong Kong based Cathay Pacific’s last passenger 747 flight was from Tokyo Haneda to Hong Kong on October 1, 2016, the CX543.

Despite the cessation of passenger services October 2016 the airline still flies cargo examples.

View LARGE! Many of you may know this great spot in Zion National Park. The main diffictulty in the shot was waiting and waiting and waiting for this little cloud to come drifing by at the right time to add a touch of contrast on a mostly clear day. Hey hanging out here was just fine by me.

As often happens, this isn't the shot I wanted to take. I created a black and white checkboard for a different image, but I didn't make the squares small enough, so I'm going to have to make some new ones. So, I thought I'd have a go at the water refraction shots so many people do...but I really only had a few minutes to spare and the glasses needed cleaning and, blah, blah.

So, who needs water when you have a stem which caught the black and white squares rather nicely and in a pleasantly abstract way. It also put into my mind that perhaps i should try and make a series of images with the black and white unite theme...as I have already done one a few days ago (with a lot more success...but that one took around an hour all in to produce)

Vestiges of the past can be seen here in the form of mosquito control ditches. Mother nature has Canary Creek winding through the marsh while superimposed on this natural winding is a faint manmade checkboard of ditches. CCC workers, during the later thirties, dug these ditches by hand. The purpose of these ditches was to drain the standing water in the marshes to reduce the area for mosquito breeding.

maybe i should dust this??

HMM.......the macromondays' theme for yesterday, 6/22, was unusual patterns........ going to post a couple of "also ran"s/alternates i didn't use

"macro mondays" "unusual patterns" possibility

when the crowd is gone, confetti swept, roses left to wither in vases without water, it is all for show, always the show. it is you and me and the bathroom floor, checkboard imprints on the bottom of high heels,

This FJ-2 is currently preserved aboard the USS Hornet (CVS-12) which is located at the former NAS Alameda. The markings are those that it wore while actually assigned to the Checkerboards of VMF-312 ca. 1955.

This aircraft was photographed on 07 January 2023.

Zion NP

Early Spring Morning in east part of Zion Nat'l Park. This is anther view from a pix I posted last week.

Seen in the street in Paris, France.

This is a "natural" photograph, no edition (except cropping), no color enhancement.

le calme n'est qu'apparent; dérrière moi, les gens me pressent pour pouvoir prendre ma place et poser...

Yes a strange looking checkerboard of a boat moored mid river on the Sal which flows into the sea in South Goa. This is further south of the Leela Kempinski Hotel in Cavelossim.

One thing is for sure. The owner of San Anthony - the boat, has to be an avid fan of racing what with the black and white squares on his boat. Or do you think he is a chess afficionado, a rather bleak prospect.

Who knows ?

About

Introducing e-fxg ( 2 ).

The shot

Started of with a simple image consisting of 16 tiles, like a checkboard, half of them black, the others

coloured in vibrant colours, red, orange, blue, that sort of things.

Loaded the image into e-fxg and applied the Hyperspiral formula on it :

radius = Trwv(angle, freqeuncyAngle ) * Trwv(radius)

angle = angle + rotationSpeed + Tan( radius * freqeuncyTan )

Trwv(x) is a triangular wave form ( a sawtooth ).

Trwv(x,frequency) is a trigular waveform that is repeated at Pi boundaries so that there are no seems when we did a full circle.

Photoshop

Added a Chrome effect.

Faded the chrome effect to get some colours back.

Boosted the saturation.

Added a light effect with a central light to get more depth in the image.

Applied some Curves for extra contrast.

En route from LHR to SFO. The view was stunning, and I can only repeat myself by recommending you open the blinds once in a while to take a look at the fantastic landscape that's passing by below when on a long haul flight, even if the flight attendants sometimes try to convince you otherwise.
