এটি ২০০৭ সালের ১লা জানুয়ারী স্থানীয় গণ্যমান্য ব্যক্তিবর্গের পরামর্শক্রমে এক সাধারণ সভার মাধ্যমে সর্বসম্মত সিদ্ধান্তের ভিত্তিতে চট্টগ্রামের আনোয়ারা উপজেলার রায়পুর ইউনিয়নের উত্তর পরুয়াপাড়া গ্রামের মরহুম নজির আহমদ ও ফিরোজা বেগমের কনিষ্ট সন্তান বিশিষ্ট সমাজকর্মী জনাব মোঃ আলম খাঁন প্রতিষ্ঠা করেন।
প্রতিষ্ঠাতা চেয়ারম্যান জনাব মোঃ আলম খাঁন বর্তমানে নীডি ফাউন্ডেশন এর পরিচালনা কমিটির চেয়ারম্যান হিসেবে দায়িত্বরত আছেন। প্রতিষ্ঠালগ্ন থেকে বর্তমান সময় পর্যন্ত নীডি ফাউন্ডেশন সমাজের গবির, দূঃখী, সুবিধা বঞ্চিত অভাবী লোকজনের সুবিধার্থে বিনামূল্যে চট্টগ্রাম বিভাগের বিভিন্ন জায়গায় ধর্মপ্রিয় মুসল্লিদের নামাজ আদায়ের সুবিধার্থে ৮টি মসজিদ নির্মাণ, মুসল্লিদের অজু করার সুবিধার্থে মসজিদ সংলগ্ন ৬১টি অজুখানা নির্মাণ এবং সমাজের সুবিধা বঞ্চিত অভাবী পরিবারসমূহের মাঝে নিরাপদ খাবার পানি সরবরাহের নিমিত্তে ৫০০ (পাঁচ শত) এর অধিক নলকূপ স্থাপন করে।
নীডি ফাউন্ডেশনের নিয়মিত চলমান কার্যক্রমের আওতায় এতিম ও অসহায় শিক্ষার্থীদের মাঝে শিক্ষা উপকরণ বিতরণ, দুর্যোগ-দূর্বিপাক তথা বন্যা ও অগ্নিকান্ডে ক্ষতিগ্রস্থ অসহায় পরিবারের মাঝে জরুরী ত্রাণ বিতরণ, যাকাত কর্মসূচীর আওতায় এতিম, বিধবা, গবির ও অসহায় পরিবারের মাঝে ঈদবস্ত্র, শিক্ষা ও চিকিৎসা সহায়তা প্রদান, শীতকালে সমাজের সুবিধা বঞ্চিত পরিবার, এতিম, অসহায় ও বিধবাদের মাঝে শীতবস্ত্র বিতরণ, পবিত্র রমজান মাসে অভাবী রোজাদার, এতিম ও বিভিন্ন এতিমখানায় ইফতার ও সেহরী সামগ্রী বিতরণ, ঈদুল আজহা উপলক্ষ্যে অভাবী রোজাদার, এতিম ও বিভিন্ন এতিমখানায় কুরবানীর পশুর মাংস বিতরণ, পবিত্র ঈদে মিলাদুন্নবী (সাঃ) ও আশুরা উপলক্ষ্যে এতিম ও অসহায় ব্যক্তিদের মাঝে রান্না করা খাবার ও চাউল বিতরণ। তাছাড়া করোনা ভাইরাসের প্রাদুর্ভাব চলাকালীন সময়ে সমাজের সুবিধা বঞ্চিত অভাবী পরিবারের মাঝে নীডি ফাউন্ডেশনের কোভিড-১৯ তথা Covid-19 কর্মসূচীর আওতায় জরুরী ত্রাণ সহায়তা প্রদান করা হয়।
মায়ানমারের বাস্তুচ্যুত রোহিঙ্গা শরণার্থীদের মাঝে জরুরী ত্রাণ সহায়তা প্রদান করা হয়। সর্বোপরি, নীডি ফাউন্ডেশন এর সমাজ উন্নয়নমূলক ও মানবিক কর্মসূচীর মাধ্যমে এ পর্যন্ত ৫০,০০০ (পঞ্চাশ হাজার) এর অধিক উপকারভোগী উপকৃত হয়েছে।

Policy dialogue on Incorporating SDG-11 into Chattogram City Development Plan held on 26 January 2019 at Radisson Blue Chattogram Bay View. The aim of the dialogue was to share the findings of the research titled Safe and Sustainable cities: Human securities, migration, and well-being and receive valuable inputs from stakeholders in regards to incorporating SDG-11 (Safe and Sustainable Cities) into the Chattogram City Development Plan or Master Plan. Present were stakeholders from different areas of policy, industry, and academia, as well as city planners and CHT migrants of Chattogram. Mr. Abu Jahed Mohammed Nasir Uddin, Honorable Mayor, Chattogram City Corporation was present as chief guest. The programme was chaired by Mr. Mohammad Abdul Mannan, Divisional Commissioner, Chattogram.
A delegation of the IFAD, PKSF, and DANIDA visited various activities implemented through IDF, a Partner Organization (PO) of PKSF in Chattogram district on 04 October 2023. Supported by PKSF under RMTP, the safe fish and fish products production & commercialization sub-project has been working with 5,000 fish farmers in Hathazari, Rouzan, Boalkhali & Fatikchari upazila. The mission visited the hatching technology of fertilized eggs of the Halda river, fish nursery, semi-intensive carp-galda fish farming & IoT-based water monitoring system aquaculture, local service provider, ready to cook & fry where they exchanged views with the entrepreneurs & discussed the production process, good aquaculture practices, hygienic practices, market potential, and future action plans. They also had group discussions with beneficiaries on gender, environment, nutrition, and sustainability of different value chain interventions under the RMTP project. In the presence of Executive Director IDF. Zahirul Alam, Mission Team Leader of IFAD, Md. Dewan Alamgir, Senior General Manager (Programme) and Project Coordinator (RMTP) of PKSF Akand Md. Rafiqul Islam and other officials were present. The Mission highly praised the successes of the project activities.
