The feral instinct can never completely be modified in a cat born wild. I worked for an entire year getting close to this cat, then finally captured her and had her vetted. She settled happily for a few years, then went walk-about for 2 years, before returning home in 2019. My cats all have distinctly different personalities, and TinkerBell's continues to surprise and fascinate me.

I took KittyKoo in as a kitten when she was already leukemia positive, she lived for 3 years. Ella (in the middle) lived until she was 10. Doggie Doe, a lab mix, lived until she was 17!

She has lived in Japan for 10 years now.
