Well, all I can say is...thank you :)

Thank you, to those who looked at my builds and/or faved them, to those who took their precious time to comment on it, and to those who even bothered following this someone-something of a builder. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart!

---------------------------------------------

Someone once told me that the worst thing you can lose is the nature and love of creating more and more ideas. Mood can be brought back in time, but that is one thing you must not lose. That line stuck, and it got me out of a rut. And the only reason I could meet that person was because he was also in the same LUG.

The reason why I mentioned that is because I've had a long hard time honing skills on actual pen and paper, especially when I was on my own, and all I could see was how slow the progress was. It's not until MOCs came into play that I was reminded that the 'idea' is the core, and expressing it is simply a matter of choosing/learning the right tools.

I'm still working on the good ol' pen and paper until I can make something out of it someday, and in the meantime, these bricks serve as a constant reminder that yeah, I can create.

And it's only better–no. It's only possible with the amazing people and support from this community. It's all about the spirit of creation, and I'm glad as hell that I'm lucky enough to be a part of it. Here's to all of you wonderful folks out there.

If there's three buddies I'm gonna give a shout out to here, it's these guys: Kosmas, for bringing me into the game in the first place. Anton, for keeping my head in the game. And of course, Erwin, for the gajillion creepy bunny stickers flooding my chatroom every day.

Cheers :)

We got a hot tip about the White-eyed Vireo. (Top row photo, next to the King of Snakes.) Drive here, park there, walk a block or two.... Ca-Ching! New bird! And for the brief time it commanded the limelight, we were all mesmerized.

A smallish clot of polite birders gathered off the path. Everyone watching. Vigilantly listening and waiting. We compare equipment and notes. Who has seen what and where they saw it. We are envious of the Orange County birders. We meet Gabriel, a Santa Monica College professor and a Herpetologist. His wife jogs by us with their new baby in a stroller. I like this Gabriel and a smidgen of hope swells in my heart. This new baby will grow up to be a gifted scientist.

homepage.smc.edu/gartner_gabriel/AboutMe.html (Guess who’s holding the snake?)

We all get a little punchy after explaining to person after person what we are looking for. People walk by with whatever the current version of a boom box is called. Loud-music-to-go because the world without continuous or constant noise is obviously unbearable.

We take turns ignoring people. We size up the curious folk before we talk. Carrying binoculars or a camera gets you in. Clownish loudly patterned yoga wear merits a dumb answer. "We are watching squirrels." Gabriel snorts but I know I could have been kinder. I make myself a promise to be less mean. Maybe Gabriel's child will develop a cure for meanness.

W9 and Jerry got the Chat as a life bird at Malibu Creek State Park. We were on the lookout for the chat after using the ebird Explore the Hot Spot tool. He put on a song and dance show for us. Thrilling, but be quick if you want a photo.

And have a gander at the red crustacean deal in the second row. How can you scream and focus a camera at the same time??? Asking for a friend.

The green landscape we experienced a few months ago is rapidly fading. Birds have disappeared. Migration and nesting. They have left or they're hiding.

Slowly my bird list is growing.

The original lists were probably carved in stone and represented longer periods of time. They contained things like "Get more clay. Make better oven." David Viscot

Erika Fuchs, née Petri (7 December 1906 in Rostock – 22 April 2005 in Munich), was a German translator. She is largely known in Germany due to her translations of American Walt Disney cartoons, especially Carl Barks's stories about Duckburg and its inhabitants.

Many of her creations (re)entered the German language, and her followers today recognize her widely quoted translations as standing in the tradition of great German-language light poetry such as by Heinrich Heine, Wilhelm Busch, and Kurt Tucholsky. Unlike the English originals, her translations included many hidden quotes and literary allusions. As Fuchs once said, "You can't be educated enough to translate comic books".

Many of her creations as translator of Carl Barks comics entered or reentered the German language. The phrase "Dem Ingeniör ist nichts zu schwör" - "nothing is too hard for an engineer" but with the vowels (umlauts) at the end of "Ingenieur" and "schwer" altered to make them rhyme amusingly was often attributed to Fuchs, as she had made it Gyro Gearloose's German catchphrase. However, it was originally based on a song written by Heinrich Seidel. A somewhat more clumsy version of the phrase was the first verse of "Seidels Ingenieurlied" ("The Engineer's Song") and had been used by fraternities at technical universities for the German equivalent of The Ritual of the Calling of an Engineer. Fuchs had heard it from her husband, who was an engineer himself.

A classical Fuchs is as well to be found in her translation of Barks's 1956 story "Three Un-Ducks" (INDUCKS story code W WDC 184-01), where Huey, Dewey, and Louie speak the oath "Wir wollen sein ein einig Volk von Brüdern, in keiner Not uns waschen und Gefahr" ("We Shall be a United People of Brethren, Never to Wash in Danger nor Distress"), thereby parodying Friedrich Schiller's version of the Rütlischwur from his 1804 play William Tell in a suitable way.

She also used verbs shortened to their stems not only to imitate sounds (onomatopoeia), such as schluck, stöhn, knarr, klimper (gulp, groan, creak, chink), but also to represent soundless events: grübel, staun, zitter (ponder, goggle, tremble). The word for these soundwords in German is now an Erikativ, a tongue-in-cheek word utilizing Fuchs's first name, made to resemble grammatical terms such as Infinitiv (infinitive), Indikativ (indicative mood), Akkusativ (accusative case), etc. Erikative are commonly used in Internet forums and chatrooms to describe what people are doing as they write, which has become the common German form of the Internet slang behavior known in English as emoting. English examples: *ducks*, *runs away*, etc. The Erikativ is the German form of those (*duck*, *weglauf*, respectively).

Great Orion Nebula

It's the same old thing as yesterday

There's a black hat caught in a high tree top

There's a fossil that's trapped in a high cliff wall

There's a dead salmon frozen in a waterfall

There's a butterfly trapped in a spider's web

That's my soul up there.

M31(仙女座星系 Andromeda Galaxy) 是我們的一個鄰居星系,距離我們約250萬光年,大小約是銀河系的兩倍。
