Créé pour permettre l'acheminement en direction de la "Ville Haute" des matériaux transportés par les barques de Meillerie, le funiculaire fut inauguré le 2 avril 1888.
A l'époque, ses cabines étaient en bois et leur charme n'excluait nullement une certaine sophistication puisqu'il y était prévu des emplacements de première et seconde classe ainsi qu'une partie réservée aux bagages et denrées transportées.
Conçu par l'ingénieur Auguste Alesmonières, c'est le seul funiculaire en Europe à se croiser dans une courbe. La longueur totale de la ligne est de 230 mètres dont 86,8 mètres en courbe. La différence de niveau, de 40 mètres, est rachetée par une rampe moyenne de 22%.
The funicular was created to allow the transport of materials carried by the boats from Meillerie to the "Ville Haute" and was inaugurated on April 2, 1888.
At the time, its cabins were made of wood and their charm did not exclude a certain sophistication since they were equipped with first and second class seats as well as a section reserved for luggage and goods.
Designed by the engineer Auguste Alesmonières, it is the only funicular in Europe to intersect in a curve. The total length of the line is 230 meters of which 86.8 meters are curved. The difference in level, 40 meters, is redeemed by an average ramp of 22%.

Nouzilly est située dans la partie sud de la Gâtine tourangelle. Son territoire est très boisé et modelé par les vallées des divers bras de ce petit affluent de la Loire qu’est la Choisille. L’une de ses sources se trouve sur Nouzilly, ainsi que celle d’un des ruisseaux nommés Petite Choisille.
Les vallonnements créés par la rivière font tout le charme de ses paysages.

Spending a few days in Castelrenaudais, in Nouzilly (37) for grandparents' missions allows walks in the middle of nature.
Nouzilly is located in the southern part of the Gâtine tourangelle. Its territory is very wooded and shaped by the valleys of the various branches of this small tributary of the Loire, the Choisille. One of its sources is in Nouzilly, as is that of one of the streams called the Petite Choisille.
The undulations created by the river are the charm of its landscapes

Nouzilly está situado en la parte meridional de la Gâtine tourangelle. Su territorio es muy boscoso y está modelado por los valles de los distintos brazos de este pequeño afluente del Loira, el Choisille. Una de sus fuentes se encuentra en Nouzilly, al igual que la de uno de los arroyos llamado Petite Choisille.

L'anse Magaud
Idéalement situé à deux pas de la ville, le rivage sauvage et préservé de Magaud se découvre après quelques efforts de marche ! Joyau de la Méditerranée niché entre de hautes falaises, il dévoile aux baigneurs le charme discret d'une belle plage de galets, abritée de pins. À déconseiller aux plus petits et à ceux qui se déplacent avec difficultés !
À Magaud, les amateurs de plongée partent à la découverte des fonds marins, alors que petits et grands gravissent les nombreux rochers immergés qui bordent la plage. Si le site est connu des Toulonnais pour ses promenades escarpées, il est aussi scrupuleusement surveillé en période estivale.

Ideally located a stone's throw from the city, the wild and unspoiled shore of Magaud can be discovered after a few efforts of walking! A jewel of the Mediterranean nestled between high cliffs, it reveals to swimmers the discreet charm of a beautiful pebble beach, sheltered by pine trees. Not recommended for the little ones and those who move with difficulty!
In Magaud, diving enthusiasts set off to explore the seabed, while young and old alike climb the many submerged rocks that line the beach. If the site is known to the people of Toulon for its steep walks, it is also scrupulously guarded in summer.

Im Frühjahr 2003 herrschte am deutschen Grenzbahnhof Horka ein merkwürdig mordbider Charme. Der Ausbau der Horka-Schiene war zwar beschlossene Sache, aber noch herrschte "Ruhe vor dem Sturm". SU46-31 fährt mit einem Kokszug aus Richtung Polen ein.

A backyard in the always hip and tourist-favourite Hackescher Markt area, where all the "it companies" have shops and flagship stores. The house in the background is probably proof of the owner's somewhat "laissez-faire" attitude of "It only needs to look good from the outside". But it does have a certain rough charm, and not all of the backyards we curiously explored (also to flee the crowded streets) had houses that looked so shabby on the back.
If you zoom in, you can see a slice of the Moon in the blue sky and, next to it, a dove sitting on one of the chimneys of the "shabby backyard wall house". There are also tiny façade climbers, red and white striped figures, attached to one of the walls/next to a pipe, which I will post a different view of soon.
