My high school era charm bracelet. The bokeh is in-camera, but the tree-branch effect is from pixlr express.

Macro Monday - Keepsake.

My wife's charm bracelet. She spent the summer before her senior year in high school with a Swiss family, under the auspices of AFS. She bought this Swiss charm during her stay...

1.7 inches in greatest dimension.

This is a gold cuckoo clock from my grandmother's charm bracelet, probably from the 1950s I should think.

This week's theme was a lovely opportunity to take a closer look.

Macro Mondays

Low Key

Instead of reaching for another stale holiday cookie, which will only weigh you down, why not reach instead for something that will give weight to the care of animals! Want to know more, click @ thefallenpath.wordpress.com/2018/12/30/reach-for-a-cause/

I dug out my childhood charm bracelet and took a photo of the purse. I know the story behind some of my charms, but not this one.

THANKS FOR YOUR VISIT AND FAVES

Macro Mondays: Jewelry (Bedelarmband )

A charm bracelet is a bracelet to which small items (the charms) can be hung.

The individual charms thus represent the memory of the donor. The wearer knows exactly who is who she is.

The popularity of the charm bracelet was mainly for the sixties and especially among young girls.

The original charms were of cheap material (glass). The use of silver in particular became increasingly common over time.

Macro Mondays 'charm' theme.

I've just got around to taking this for the MM theme today.

These are two little charms from the charm bracelet that I've kept from my childhood. It is over fifty years old, tarnished and very dirty, though of course looks much worse in macro!

For Macro Mondays - Ring.

A miniature ring from my wife's charm bracelet, commemorating the Junior-Senior Prom of 1965. The background is a detail from the cover of her high school year book.

This sterling charm bracelet belonged to my wife's much older second cousin when her cousin was going to the University of Arizona. The heart and silver charms are dated on the back, ranging from 1934 through 1957.

Mini LEDs in the background. Lit primarily with a 2-AA battery incandescent Maglite flashlight with two layers of white handkerchief in front of the flashlight to diffuse the light.

Canon 6D Mark II and Sigma 150mm f2.8 macro OS lens. ISO 800, f5.0 at 0.5 second, 2/3 stop overexposed. The image is SOOC.

My charm bracelet shows off some of my favorite things, including minions and photography

Together

We grew old

Memories

Locked in glittery gold

Our minds confuse the strands of time

Our trinkets

Now aides-memoire sublime

Padlocks on silver charm bracelets, HMM! :-)

Charm bracelets were all the rage in the 1970's & 1980's. This was my Mother's!

Wishing all Sweethearts a very happy Valentine's Day weekend.

This weeks Macro Mondays entry under the theme Redux 2018. (Favourite theme from the year) I chose trinkets.

I found this charm bracelet in my mom's jewelry box. My name and my brother's name are inscribed on the back. They are from the late 60s or early 70s.

Private swap. Whimsy jar filled with red, monkeys, food goodies, and a few robots.

You don't see people wearing charm bracelets anymore. The head with my name is almost 67 years old. My dad bought it for me and had my name engraved on it.

I may not always get to "thank you" or comment back on a comment that you might leave here on my image but, just know each comment is read and very much appreciated.

Charm from a bracelet my sister gave me a long time ago.

BEATLES/BEETLES theme. A charm from my bracelet that closes into the shape of a beetle. As a child of the 60s, I'm a huge Beatles fan! HMM!!

This charm bracelet, which is about 45 years old now, and I don't wear anymore, is packed with memories for me. Each charm reminds me of events or people from my childhood and teen years. It's also funny for me to see I had an Elephant and an Owl on there, because years later I would fall in love with wildlife photography!

7 SIN CHARMS

*Lust: devil girl

*Gluttony: donut box

*Greed: money

*Sloth: rocking chair [I was stumped on that one! so I went with a time-honored vehicle for relaxation and laziness :) ]

*Wrath: knife

*Envy: lucky horseshoe and shamrock [I figured preception of luck plays into coveting what others have, but this one was also tricky]

*Pride: vanity [the piece of furniture]

***bonus: open bible

March 7, 2011.

I'm a bit obsessed over light leaks at the moment.

I hunted all over for a bag like that, and I couldn't find one D: So in the end I just got a plain bag and wrote the slogan on. :)

Words are the only way to pour out my thoughts, and I hope they will be sufficient, be enough to end this slow process of travelling. Life is a journey, it has been a gravel filled, rocky path with rose thorns and poisonous flowers that deceive, but I am running now, I want to leave quickly, to move on and forget everything ever happened.

Light leak credits go to the amazing Colton

Miscellaneous charms from those 1980s charm-bracelet days. I probably have a lot more somewhere.

Macro Monday's

Charm bracelet that is over 55 years old. It was given to me when I was very young.

...I was 13. Wouldn't go back for all the silver in the world.

Macro Mondays: Charm

Frame is about 2.25" across.

Sailboat charm on a red background. Square macro.

I've got a bordello chic thing going here...

totally chocolate charm bracelet

Ice cream charms, the left one is an ice cream sundae the right one is an ice cream cone.

These are mine. Each bracelet has a double chain so I can have loads of charms on them. I've had some of the charms and toys since I was a little girl, some are handmade, some are gifts from my boyfriend or from friends, some used to be other things (earrings, brooches, keyrings...) And I keep adding more! :)

Delicate colors of the seashore. Double strands of large, irregularly shaped aquamarine and moonstone gemstone beads. Surrounded by aquamarine, amethyst and rose quartz gemstone chips. One strand of cloisonne beads made of red copper roughcast and decorated colorful glaze with sterling silver beads and bali bead spacers. One strand of colorful Czech glass beads on a German-silver chain.

Bylakuppa is a Tibetan settlement consisting of seven monasteries set in rolling meadows near Mysore. It is about 210 km (131 miles) southwest of Bangalore and is a part of Mysore district. The land and other basic amenities like schools, etc. were provided to the Tibetan refugees about 50 years ago. The Namdroling Monastery, one the largest in this area, is home to a sangha community of over five thousand lamas.

A little charm from a 1960s charm bracelet that I found & bought at the local St. Vinnie's store a few years back. I wear the charm bracelet to important events like Tori Amos concerts, social gathering, etc. I don't really have a lot of jewelry....by choice. But this is one of my favorite pieces.

I was trying to think what to use for staying healthy without shooting pills or vitamins. Then I remembered these affirmations on my charm bracelet. Affirmations are said to work because they draw attention to - affirm - positive thoughts to manifest that reality in our life. The healthy affirmation is probably obvious. Everyone would prefer to have good health rather than bad health. The benefits of practising gratitude in our lives, is however a more recent phenomenon. Cultivating gratitude is said to increase happiness and reduce depression. Gratitude apparently helps build resilience, and increase our tolerance and tendency to illness.

I didn't necessarily think of myself as being New Age but owning several crystals and saying affirmations - the case for the opposition is not looking good. đź‘ đź‘
