Fall ... a season of change. (Male House Finch - Andover, NJ)

...plus c'est la même chose.

When I used to frequent Tonbridge West Yard in the 1980s, taking the long way round from school to the station, there were usually a few 73s on show - albeit not the re-engined variety. GBRf's 73963 waits for its next task as 73141 shunts RHTT wagons in the background.

Locomotives: GB Railfreight Class 73/9 73963 "Janice" and Class 73/1 73141 "Charlotte".

Location: Tonbridge West Yard, Kent.

With the 'Old Road ' on its maintenance week DB are denied there usual crew changeover at Masbrough FD , Plan B is Swinton Station .

The 6Z21 1909 Margam - Hedon Rd arrives to swop drivers . The driver to be relieved will probably have picked 6Z21 up at Landor St and faces a 2hr taxi drive back....painful .

Autumn Season .....

Here is another shot from Canyonlands. I spent a long time composing this shot, and even longer trying to get the crop just right. I really don't know what makes it special for me, but it is one of my favorite shots from this area. Really curious to hear thoughts.

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!!!

Wearing Kit's dress

Late summer in Minnesota is a season of quiet transitions for deer. While the soybean fields are luxuriously green, the early morning air carries the first hints of fall, and the deer begin to change.

This alert doe, standing among the bean rows, wears a ratty coat as patches of her sleek red-brown summer hair slowly give way to the muted gray of autumn that she will wear through the coming winter.

Each year, white-tailed deer undergo a remarkable transformation tied to the length of daylight. As the days shorten in late August, hormonal signals tell the doe’s body it is time to prepare for winter.

The fine, reddish summer hairs begin to loosen and fall, replaced by longer, denser hairs that are hollow inside. Beneath them grows a thick underfur, like a natural blanket built to trap heat.

By October, her wardrobe will be complete. The bright coat of summer that was useful to blend into sunlit fields is being replaced by a gray-brown covering that will match the muted tones of bare trees and frosted fields. Beyond simple camouflage, the new coat will conserve energy, shed snow, and keep her warm through the long, unforgiving months ahead.

Her changing colors remind us of nature’s unrelenting march toward autumn and another blessed Minnesota winter designed to freeze the hair off a brass cat statute.

"Pode haver um dia

em que a poesia

mude de endereço

deixe apenas tédio

mas enquanto isso

vem brincar comigo

vamos até onde

possa ser só riso

possa ir tão longe

possa ser tão lindo

pode ser brinquedo

pode ser tão sério..."

This image is a second image which was captured earlier this week in Wiltshire whilst taking the opportunity to photograph the Milky Way. I think it's fair to say I got a little distracted.

The last time that I was fortunate to photograph the Northern Lights, was back in Iceland in March/April 2016, so only taken eight years. Hopefully some more opportunities in the near future.

On our way to Jasper the trees were just starting to turn their golden color. Two days later on the way back down we drove in snow. But either way we met beauty.

Week 10. Fresh new start. Today we started planting our raised beds. It is amazing how our 6 year old is completely invested in the process and planning this year. She is growing and changing so fast.

After spending the night and morning relaxing in the hot springs (bathhouse) at Kakeyu Onsen, I took this photo while taking a walk around the Kakeyu area. While "kouyou" has just begun in Nagano, the changing colours of the leaves are already beautiful in some areas.

One of cinema’s sweetest moment (for me)

The modern city of Alba Iulia is located near the site of the important Dacian political, economic and social center of Apulon, which was mentioned by the ancient Greek geographer Ptolemy. After Dacia became a province of the Roman Empire, the capital of Dacia Apulensis was established here, and the city was known as Apulum. Apulum was the largest city in Roman Dacia and was the seat of the XIII Gemina Legion. Apulum is the largest castrum located in Romania, occupying 37.5 hectares (93 acres) (750 x 500 m2). The early Slavic name of the settlement was Bălgrad (meaning "white castle" or "white town"). The "white city" name was Latinized into Alba Julia. Between 1541 - 1690 it was the capital of the Eastern Hungarian Kingdom and the Principality of Transylvania. Alba Iulia is historically important for Hungarians, Romanians and Transylvanian Saxons. The change of guard, troops from the city's Austrian Empire's infantry, cavalry and artillery divisions in their traditional military costumes, happens every day at 12 pm. It takes place nearby the 3rd and 4th Citadel Gates, two of the largest and most imposing of the citadel's seven gates and is attended by a large crowd.
