A lovely afternoon spent with my camera club friend Julie and my daughter jess at Wakehurst. On the way back we made a stop at Balcombe Viaduct which fitted my challenge for this weeks Engineering. Would like to have another go with this again.

It was half past midnight so I lit another cigarette and waited for the next bus to come in. There was always a next bus. The guy I was looking for wasn't heeled well enough to take the train, so I knew this was his only other option. He would be alone and probably wouldn't be carrying much luggage. My contact had told me he always carried a gat, so separating it from him would be the first thing on the agenda. The second thing was personal. He'd spill what had happened to Mabel or maybe I'd have to beat some sense into him until he saw the wisdom of telling me what I wanted to hear. Oh, yeah.... this time it was my own personal score to settle. The rest would fall into place then I could wrap this case up. My name is Steve Randall and most of the time it was worth the $35 a day I charged. I hadn't decided yet if this case would turn out to be worth that kind of money or not.
I lit another cigarette and waited for another bus to roll in.

This was a self-portrait, using all my own props. The cigarette wasn't real - it was just a round pencil with white typing paper wrapped around it.
The Common Merganser or Goosander (Mergus merganser) is a large duck of rivers and lakes in forested areas of Europe, northern and central Asia, and North America. Adult males in breeding plumage are easily distinguished, the body white with a variable salmon-pink tinge, the head black with an iridescent green gloss, the rump and tail grey, and the wings largely white on the inner half, black on the outer half. Females are largely grey, with a reddish-brown head, white chin, and white secondary feathers on the wing. The bill and legs are red to brownish-red, brightest on adult males, dullest on juveniles.

uno: I’m re-editing some older photos, like the one above which was taken in July. I scoured through some older images to have a go at processing them differently now that I am addicted to Lightroom. I’d not posted this particular photo before but I did process it- in a way that makes me slightly cringe-y now.
I’ve included the unedited original shot below for no reason.
dos: Feeling Croppy and Tapper forced me to join FU64 several weeks ago and it’s since become my favorite group here (aside from Musically Challenged, of course). Those two, along with Dreamy Jason, have whored the group out this week and it’s my turn to do the same. But I’ve got an annoying cold and my brain isn’t functioning properly, so I made The Potato write me a script, in my “voice”, to post here.
Luckily for you guys, I’ve edited out the truly disturbing bits.
"FU64 is an uncensored group where folks mock each other jovially, post photos in a tournament and discuss the rape of livestock on a disturbingly frequent basis. Sometimes it is just a regular challenge group - (think of it as the equivalent of having a good romp in missionary with the lights off - it is still fun but nothing spectacular) and other times it blossoms into something a lot more fun - (I’m thinking disco lights, cowboy outfits, and lederhosen). Please to be joining us? Our next game is starting soon and the more people that play, the more fun it is.

To take a roll of film (12 shots or so) during an "average" walk -trying to see overlooked beauty and interesting stuff.
I went walking with my number obsessed toddler and as well as fulfilling the challenge we sang number songs and did lots of learning :-)
I'll probably try and do another this week - hope the mosaic is ok for the group

The Bow River is a river in the Canadian province of Alberta. It begins in the Rocky Mountains and winds through the Alberta foothills onto the prairies where it meets the Oldman River, the two then forming the South Saskatchewan River. These waters ultimately flow through the Nelson River into Hudson Bay. The Bow River runs through the city of Calgary, taking in the Elbow River at the historic site of Fort Calgary near downtown. The Bow River pathway, developed along the river's banks, is considered a part of Calgary's self-image.
