One of the more interesting Grebe behaviors is a weed ceremony. The male and female move through behaviors dubbed neck-stretching, bob-shaking, and weed-diving, before coming to the astonishing weed-dancing, in which male and female face each other with aquatic vegetation in the bill and rise up vertically, their feet in constant motion, necks extended and bills rising upward, and then begin spiral movements around one another, their bills gracefully turning as they pivot around their partner. Maze Hamer tribesmen, painting themselves for the bull jumping ceremony (Ethiopia).
For Hamer people, the bull jumping ceremony is the rite of passage from the adolescence to the adulthood. During the bull jumping ceremony the young men must run four times across the backs of bulls without fall down, to be considered as adults by their tribe.
"Maze" is the name given to the whipper running the bull jumping.
The maze have the role of whipping the women relatives or friends of the bull jumper, who are offering to be whipped to demonstrate their affection to the bull jumper.
