Out in the countryside near Mandalay the land is very fertile and there are many products grown for the markets. This young man was plowing in bare feet with a very basic plow and stopping to check his cell phone.

While out walking the other day I came across a bit of broken electronics laying on the side of the road. I don't know what it was when it was whole because only a small bit holding these tiny button cell batteries remained. Possibly a small flashlight? As I don't like leaving discarded batteries I find laying around in nature, I stuck them in my pocket and brought them home to dispose of them properly. Before I did I tested them with a battery tester, and despite looking very weathered, they are all good. Guess I'll keep them, they might come in handy for something.

No real history found scouring the internet but my experience is that its harder to get into a prison than out.
The impromptu 2 day tour with camerashy and host to France and Belgium, with some new places, a lot of travel with minimal sleep and some goals being accomplished by getting to a certain school.

Turning light into power, solar arrays are a must-have for the vast majority of satellites.
With solar arrays sized according to the power needs of the mission, there might be thousands of individual solar cells crammed onto a typical satellite.
The design seen here is a thin version of the European 3G30 triple-junction gallium arsenide solar cell. Produced by Azur Space Solar Power, it is one of the most efficient in the world.
It was 60 years ago this month that the first practical solar (or ‘photovoltaic’ cell) was demonstrated at Bell Labs in New Jersey, USA. This new invention’s very first practical use was in powering early satellites, and solar cells remain pivotal to the space industry to this day.
But photovoltaic electricity generation is also on the way to becoming a major terrestrial energy source, projected to supply close to 3% of global electricity demand by 2020.
This bright future will be the focus of the European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, this September.
Thousands of experts will discuss the progress of photovoltaic technology across – as well as off – the planet.
Historically, the space industry has helped to drive advances in photovoltaics. For instance, the gallium arsenide cells powering today’s satellites are more than twice as efficient as those installed on domestic rooftops.
With such successes in mind, ESA has begun an initiative devoted to the synergies between space and energy technology called Space for Energy, with solar energy a major element.
Meanwhile, next week sees the ESA-organised European Space Power Conference in Noordwijkerhout, the Netherlands, covering all aspects of electrical power for space missions, including batteries, power components and nuclear power.

A look from the lower level down the long cell block of an abandoned maximum security prison. The prison has been closed for over a decade & initially was planned on being repurposed however for reasons unknown to me this had never happened. In fact there doesn't even seem to really be much of an effort at repurposing the prison aside from removing records, bedding, clothing & majority of the furniture.

The base photos used here, slightly modified by me of course, were from cell cultures done by Elizabeth Normand here at Brown University. The cells are transfected with proteins that fluoresce if the protein is expressed by the cell and much of the color you see is merely enhanced but not changed.

New girl! I didn't order Erin when she was a Club doll as I really wanted LNO Nadja and I was trying to be 'good'. I wasn't a fan of her outfit either... So the other day I popped onto eBay and who should appear at the top of my feed but this girl and from a UK seller (at a good price) so it felt like Kismet and I popped her straight in my cart without hesitation. I'm super super pleased to have her - she's a very sultry version of one of my favourite characters and completely different to my other Erins. I also thought I'd try her in the infamous silver faux leather and fur coat from In Control Erin - and personally I really love it on her!
The Soviet Union occupied Lithuania on 15 June 1940, having accused Lithuania of not keeping the treaty for mutual assistance. People not loyal to the occupiers were arrested, killed or deported to Siberia. The NKVD first, and KGB later, “inner” prison (a pre-trial detention centre) was set up in the basement of the former courthouse in the autumn of 1940, when the Vilnius board of the NKVD was established here. The present appearance of the prison hardly resembles the prison in which in the postwar period members of the anti-Soviet resistance were tortured.
I chose a deliberately distorted prespective using the wide angle to express the disturbing feelling you get there...
Fort Brockhurst Prison Cell - 1860
I can't explain how uneasy just being in this old Army cell made me feel. It was a very uncomfortable feeling. It was dark and damp and impossible to see out of the high level window. Deeply intimidating.
The dark green moss on the arched ceiling highlighting just how damp the cells were. This was because the roofs of the buildings were covered with several feet of soil as protection against shell and mortar fire. The downside being - the ceilings and walls were like basements, surrounded by soil.
I don't suppose it was worth saying to the Army doctor, "I don't think those mould spores will do my chest and lungs any good. Please let me out of the cell."
