Cell blocks sit quiet and empty at the historic E.S.P.
Eastern State Penitentiary was the worlds first true penitentiary. A prison designed to resemble a medieval fortress and inspire true regret in the hearts of those sent there. Opened in 1829 and finally closing its doors in 1971, E.S.P. is now open to the public for tours and exploring on your own. I highly advise a visit if you're in the Philadelphia area!

The Tree Bumblebee (Bombus hypnorum) is a species of bumblebee common in the European continent and parts of Asia. Since the start of the twenty-first century, it has spread to the United Kingdom and Iceland.
They often live near human settlements and prefers to build its nest above ground and often inhabits bird boxes. B. hypnorum likes to live in forests, but in places where there are not as many trees, it favours human dwellings. It likes to live in holes and walls in the trees unlike other members of the Bombus species. B. hypnorum does not stay in areas where there is a high amount of rapeseed cover.
The nest is quite large, with 150 workers or more. It stores pollen in separate cells, and feeds each larva individually. It visits an enormous range of flowering plants such as Rhododendron, cherry, grape hyacinth and, in the north, blueberry and Vaccinium. It is also an important visitor to raspberry (Rubus idaeus) and bramble (Rubus fruticosus agg.).

Fort Brockhurst Prison Cell - 1860
I can't explain how uneasy just being in this old Army cell made me feel. It was a very uncomfortable feeling. It was dark and damp and impossible to see out of the high level window. Deeply intimidating.
The dark green moss on the arched ceiling highlighting just how damp the cells were. This was because the roofs of the buildings were covered with several feet of soil as protection against shell and mortar fire. The downside being - the ceilings and walls were like basements, surrounded by soil.
I don't suppose it was worth saying to the Army doctor, "I don't think those mould spores will do my chest and lungs any good. Please let me out of the cell."
Croydon Heritage Precinct - the old Police Station
The site comprises a number of simple timber buildings, including the police residence at the corner of the streets, the police station to the west of this with frontage to Samwell Street and cells to the rear, south of the police station. The first Police Station was established early in 1886, and was in charge of Sergeant John Farquharson with a staff of three constables.

You probably have things made of them around your house. Helium is found in helium inflated balloons. Hydrogen is found in water (along with oxygen). Carbon is found in graphite (in pencils) and diamonds. Calcium is found in shells.

There are about 6 queen cells in the queenless hive. Eventually they will chew their way out and fight to the death, the winner gets to be queen of the hive. Any unhatched queen cells will be destroyed by the winner.
