Cell 5 of the 57 cell prison. The Museum of Genocide Victims was established in 1992 after being used as a prison and detention centre during the Russian occupation from 1940 to 1991. The KGB Prison, located in the basement of the former courthouse, now looks the same as it did when it was vacated. Sometimes up to 30 prisoners lived in one cell--there were only 57 cells in the prison--with everyone having to sleep in the unheated room on the floor.

Jail cell in Cameron Jail in Cameron, Moore County, North Carolina. Take a moment to read the little note on the cot.
found in the helena urgent care...yeah, if you can't tell it's a brochure for a summer camp for asthmatic kids, and it's CALLED "Camp Huff 'n Puff"
As a Grade 11 biology project, I had my class create models of plant or animal cells. The catch? They had to be made out of edible materials.
Viral RNA (red) in an RSV-infected cell. More information about the research behind this image can be found in a Biomedical Beat Blog posting from January 2014.

This was made for a project in science where we needed to make some kind of 3-D model of a plant or animal cell and the organelles in it. I chose to make mine out of Lego, while everyone else made theirs out of food. Needless to say, people were annoyed that I had not made food for them too eat.
(depending on the plan of sectioning) the axons of granule cells are often cut and not visible. Found a nice one yesterday, that splits several times (collaterals?).
Filmed this morning during my fascinating bus ride. ;^P I've been tinkering with the settings of my cell phone's video recorder, trying to see if I can get a bigger resolution than this. It doesn't look like it. :^( So the cell phone will be used for little snippets, and I'll use my family's Canon PowerShot A710 IS for the "serious" stuff. X^P
Also, for some reason, no sound comes through on the video when I review it on my laptop with Windows Media Player, but it's there after I upload it to Flickr. 0_o
New Cell Phone Law
According to a proposed new law that would go into effect Jan 1, 2006 you will no longer be able to use a cell phone while driving unless you have a "hands free" adapter. I went to Circuit City and they wanted $50 for a headset with a microphone for my cell phone. Having a friend in the cell phone business, I talked with him and was able to come up with an alternative, working through Office Depot.
These kits are compatible with any mobile phone and one size fits all. I paid him $0.08 each because he bought in quantity. Then we tried it with Motorola, Sprint, Verizon and Nokia units and they worked perfectly.
A photo is attached so scroll down & take a look and let me know if you want one. Also, forward this to anyone you know, who has a cell phone, and who may want one!
Edible cell models from Ms. Fowler's 8th grade science class. Do you know if this is a plant or animal cell?
Newer (13 month old) Motorola ROKR screen died, rendering it unusable. Our old Nokia phone, which was bare-bones but worked great, has been used for the last year as a play-toy by the kids. I told Cingular that I had an old GSM phone that could work, but they wanted me to buy a new phone at full MSRP since I wasn't "eligible" for a phone "upgrade" yet. After several support calls and a fruitless visit to the store, one Cingular rep suggested simply moving the SIM card from the new phone to the old one. I did that but the old phone came up with a restricted message, looking for a code to be entered. I found that on eBay it is possible to buy codes to unlock phones previously locked by a carrier, and $1.75 later, my old phone works great!
