CCGS Amundsen is a T1200 Class Medium Arctic icebreaker and Arctic research vessel operated by the Canadian Coast Guard.
It is named after the famed Norwegian explorer, Roald Amundsen; having been the first to transverse the Northwest Passage, way up there in the cold, cold Artctic.
Of note also: the CCGS Amundsen is pictured on the back of Canada's new $50 bill. As with other recently issued banknotes, this one is also made of that polymer stuff and puts to rest the saying, "...hardly worth the paper its printed on."
Oh ya...there's a bird in the photo also.

Upbound at Walpole Island, the Arctic class 3 icebreaker CCGS Des Groseilliers (IMO 8006385, Ottawa Ontario) works the lower St. Clair River.
CCGS Des Groseilliers is a Pierre Radisson-class icebreaker in the Canadian Coast Guard. The vessel is named after Médard Chouart des Groseilliers a close associate of Pierre-Esprit Radisson in explorations west of the Great Lakes and the founding of the British Hudson's Bay Company. The ship entered service in 1982.
A Coast Guard Nearshore Fishery Research Vessel. After making a slow pass on the northwest side of Ahgykson Island (formerly Harwood Island) she berthed in the local harbour overnight. Here she was making a pass in front of Powell River early in the morning at 2.5 knots, with Ahgykson in the background behind her. She was trailing 2 lines, though hard to tell what she was actually pulling in the depths. While the Neocaligus is a research vessel, all the crew will have had SAR training.

The Arrow Post was built for the Coast Guard in 1991 and commissioned the following year. She was stationed in Prince Rupert, and used mainly for fisheries patrol. In 2016 she was transferred to Parks Canada - they refitted her as a research vessel and renamed her the RV David Thompson, after the great explorer.
