I shot this thru my living room window and he was a long ways off.
I love looking out the window and seeing this guy relaxing and just being in the moment
in keeping with the low light theme I've been posting lately. Not really on purpose. Just archive diving.
This was taken last January very late in the day. Cav still had his winter coat and he still had his left eye
. . . how 'bout you scratch my butt a while?
Oh Cav. He does love a good butt scratch, LOL
He's wearing his muddy winter coat now. Nothing but rain and mud here, ugh!

Moran tug, Cavalier, built in 1954, pictured here at the foot of the Broadway City pier, Fells Point, Baltimore City Harbor, Maryland. Circa 2003
is what horses are to many.
Handsome Cavalier.
For this photo, Cav was standing out in front of my barn and the barn was in deep shadow but Cav was out far enough away from the barn to catch some light giving him some nice rim light along with capturing some breath vapor. One of my favorite kinds of photos of him.
I was out walking around my property with my camera photographing my Canada goose papa who is protecting his territory from other geese when Cav was down having a good roll.
So I started photographing him and when he was done with his roll, he popped up acting all frisky and feisty. Spring is in the air. Even though Cav is a gelding, he still feels frisky sometimes.

Himalayan rider
Himachal Pradesh (India) - The horse remains, even today, the best means of circulating in the foothills of the Indian Himalayas to reach the hamlets lost in altitude, located on both sides of the Leh-Manali road.
Some riders, former sedentary nomads, who supply these outlying villages, have partially converted to tourism and offer to join Leh on horseback, rather than taking the bus or renting a 4 x 4 with driver.
This rider with the smile of a used car salesman, who would be able to sell you a handful of gravel at the price of gold, was photographed at the Rhotang pass in 1995. Already at the time he proposed to organize equestrian expeditions for the rare tourists who passed by.

A local resident dressed as a Cavalier for the Imperial City Festival in Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Germany.
Thousands of local residents dress up in the garb of medievil times and the history of the town is brought to life. A fantastic festival that we were lucky enough to be a part of!

My photographic license at work here, with my interpretation of a rare artistic print called "Cavaliers en Automne" or "Riders in Autumn" by Jean-Pierre Cassigneul 1989.
The formal entry way...
August 1st - 3rd was Summer VACA (Virginia Association of Commonwealth's Attorneys) conference. When I wasn't in class, we were at the beach or the Historic Cavalier Hotel. Built in 1927 it is the epitome of a classic "grand hotel." During the 1930's, 1940's, and 1950's, The Cavalier was the largest hirer of big bands in the world. Tomy Dorsey, Frank Sinatra, Benny Goodman, Xavier Cugat, Cab Calloway, Glen Miller, Lawrence Welk, and Bing Crosby were among the many who played at the Cavalier Beach Club.
Seven U.S. presidents have stayed at The Cavalier: Calvin Coolidge, Herbert Hoover, Harry Truman, Dwight Eisenhower, John Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, and Richard Nixon. Richard Nixon's favorite room at The Cavalier was the Hunt Room with its roaring fireplace. He didn't care if it was the middle of August he loved that fire roaring. Staff obliged and turned up the air conditioning. Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, and George Bush have each addressed audiences from podiums at The Cavalier.
Other famous guests include: F. Scott Fitzgerald, Judy Garland, Will Rogers, Bette Davis, Jean Harlow, Mary Pickford, Betty Grable, and the infamous Fatty Arbuckle. When Fatty visited, he would rent an entire floor for his entourage. Hank Ketchum drew several "Dennis the Menace" cartoons based upon his family's stay at The Cavalier.
Many of the pictures are of the historic hotel, some are of the "New Cavalier" (built in the early 1970's and typical of the bad cliche' hotels that dominate the Virginia Beach oceanfront) and some are of restaurants / bars we visited while on this mini-vacation.
Seen these two cavaliers about 50 yards from each other within a minute, what are the chances of that!! This one looks to be in better condition.
Seen in North Cheam, Surrey, with bonus Mark 3 Cavalier CD saloon behind.

HMS Cavalier (R73) a Royal Navy C Class destroyer serving between 1944 and 1972. I have a particular interest in this ship as my father served on one of her sisters HMS Chevron during his long Royal Navy career. HMS Cavalier is now a museum ship at Chatham Royal Navy Dockyard.
Oliver will be 4 years old in 3 months. He is such a pretty boy. Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. #cavalierkingcharlesspaniel
about days gone by, loved ones I've lost, how quiet my ride was today without Phil in the Ranger with all the dogs, Otto barking constantly out of excitement to be going for a ride.
So different now, but still comforting. Comforting to have this connection with Cav that never dies even though I hadn't ridden him in ages. He does have the cutest ears, doesn't he LOL!
A few days earlier, the creek was way higher and as you can see from all the grasses laying down, where the water was. It's still high and we didn't cross yesterday cuz I didn't want to get my boots and saddle wet. Plus, the water's cold, LOL.
Cav is real focused on the cows way off in the distance, not sure you can even see them. He always seems so fascinated by cows. Cracks me up.
HMS Cavalier is a retired C-class destroyer of the Royal Navy. She was laid down by J. Samuel White and Company at East Cowes on 28 March 1943, launched on 7 April 1944, and commissioned on 22 November 1944. She served in World War II and in various commissions in the Far East until she was decommissioned in 1972. After decommissioning she was preserved as a museum ship and currently resides at Chatham Historic Dockyard.
I've got a lot of other photos to go through but this one has jumped the queue as it was such a pleasure to see. Apparently had the same owner from new until recently. The whte, yellow and grey colour scheme looked good and it had the similarly trimmed seats.
Mileage a little higher than expected at nearly 109k, the original owner obviousy looked after it very well as Mk2 Cavaliers could easily become quite tatty.
