"Black Cat" by Janet Jackson

Black cat, nine lives, short days, long nights

Livin' on the edge, not afraid to die

Heartbeat, real strong, but not for long

Better watch your step or you're gonna die

Well it had to happen - Ray's Retreat is now Pixie's Palace and here is Pixie admiring her new signage.

For those who do not know the history of the cat house, you can see the previous 'owners' in the two comments below

Just a cat sitting in front of its house in Middleton-by-Youlgreave, Derbyshire

This cat basket was the first thing I bought when I decided to get a cat. Of course he didnt go anywhere near it for at least 4 years. Then he would deign to get in about once every 6 months. More often he would seemingly taunt me by sleeping in front of it.

Now, for some inexplicable reason, its often his afternoon place of choice while he is waiting for his dinner.

That only took almost ten years...

The Cat House (Latvian: Kaķu nams) is a building situated at 10 Meistaru iela in the old town of Riga, the capital of Latvia. It was built in 1909 according to the blueprint of architect Friedrich Scheffel. The building is styled as medieval architecture with some elements of Art Nouveau. It is known for the two cat sculptures, with arched backs and raised tails, on its roof. It is said that the owner of the house wanted the cats to be placed with their tails turned towards the house of the Great Guild, which is nearby, as he held a grudge against its members. It was later ordered that the cats should be turned so as to face the guildhouse.

This film was 25yrs old and taken in a Chaika 3, which i suspect has light leaks. The darkness at the bottom of some of these pics if due to accidental exposure *after* taking the film out of the camera (oops, my bad). Developed as 400iso pushed to 800iso in ilfosolS for 8.5min.

Ray the cat and a glass of Merlot ! During the heatwave I've been ordered to take it easy as I've slipped a disc . It's ok if I don't sit down or laugh so I've got to stay horizontal . Can't remember when I last took time off work- keep wanting to be busy . This shot is taken from the sun bed - sorry if its a bit wonky

Welcome to The Cat House—where the rumors are only half true. Yes, there are cats. No, we’re not hiring. Between the purring, potions, and questionable décor, you’ll find just enough fading autumn magic to make you wonder what kind of house this really is.

✈️ Cathouse

So here's the cathouse under the veil of our first snow of the season. It's about 10ºF out there, and the neighborhood's free roaming kitties will be nice and comfy upstairs inside, all shielded from the wind and so forth.

The upper floor is well shielded from any wind and has a nice comforter, while both floors are heated, so this is a warm, soft, clean and dry refuge for them during the Montana winters, which otherwise tend to do damage to ears and tails. Access to the yard is only through a small "elf" size opening, so dogs and other predators (for instance, children) can't get in and bedevil the felines.

The entire project was made out of 4x8 plywood and a few 2x2's, plus plexiglass for the windows, and of course some paint. Deb did the stained glass.

You might like the catsle, too.
