On monday my neighboors rang my doorbell and said that Messi was injured in a Catfight.

He laid in front of the outdoor and could not walk on his frontleg.

We went to vet and there they asked how old he was...turning 13.

They said his heart or lungs where not functoning and that the leg got a böld.

Intensive care ,operation in another city and not sure he would be sane after that.

We where in chock, went in for a leg injure and now we had to put him to sleep.

We where with him all process laying on our lap.

So hurtful and we are so sad!

Peto brought home the mother of all boxes the other day and it has been a NON STOP CATFIGHT ever since then. The latest innovation is the scratching post inside the bigbox.

It was just after sunrise when we found 4 youngster male Lions. Confidently they were on their way, looking for food or in search of mischief, who knows with adolescent males..

But it sure was a formidable sight.

They approached a little bushy area when all of a sudden we saw one after the other hyena fleeing from that spot. Apparently a whole clan of hyena had been resting there. There were at least 10 or 12 adults and some younger ones on the run for the approaching lions.

Suddenly the lions leaped forward into the bushes. A young hyena hadn't noticed the lions approaching and they killed it.. just for fun.. the way cats do with pray.. playing cat and mouse. Hard to watch and even harder to hear.

The rest of the hyena clan was screaming and howling hearing the kill in progress. It was a blood curdling sound audible miles around. The adult hyenas tried to attack the lions but with 4 big males it was just too dangerous for them. They attacked and withdrew time after time.

The 4 lions were distracted by those attacks and didn't see or feel the danger coming.

The 3 magnificent fully grown Topi pride males had heard the intruders in their territory and came into the scene with a vengeance. 3 Of the youngsters fled but one was too slow and got caught by 2 of the adults. He got bitten quite badly in his hind leg but surprisingly enough they let him go after a short while and went after the other 3 (didn't get them though).

The youngster limped away and as far as I know now, he's never seen again.

I guess they learned respect the hard way..

Dazy's tail twitches for a mere moment... Her pupils are wide. Her hind legs spring with a strong intensity. She leaps for Bails' chest and shoulders in an attempt to knock her down to the ground and land on top of her.

Bails lands on her back with an 'OOF', her head smacking into the concrete of the roof, her eyes widen as Dazy lands on top of her. She'd growl and make an attempt to throw the pink cat off her.

Dazy heard the sound of Bails head hitting the concrete building... she licks her lips again. Her hands continue to hold Bails shoulders to the concrete until her sister either gives up fighting, or successfully throws her off. She growls instructions "Be yourself... feel it on the inside... prowl, stalk and attack... it's inside of you."

Bails growls at the pink cat, she'd attempt to bring her hands up to push the cat off of her. Her ears flattened to the side of her head as she struggles to push the cat back onto her butt.

Dazy keeps her claws in as her hands get shoved back. She gets pushed backwards, but lands on her feet none-the-less. She continues her instructions, still crouched down, giving Bails time to get up. She quickly puts what looks like a small sticker or barcode on the bottom of Bails shoe "Go run and don't stop until you understand... understand what it means to be a feline."

Bails jumps up into a crouch as Dazy lands on her feet. She'd shake her head and let out a low growl backing up slightly from the other cat. She'd note you touching her shoe but wouldn't think anything of it, all she wanted to do was run and jump. With a loud mrowll she'd jump off to the next roof, her tail lashing out behind her.

Dazy licks her lips again, watching her sister leap away. She smiles, and makes a decision not to warn anyone within the Pride. This could make for an interesting next couple days.

Not the best shot of the day, but too great a moment to throw this out due to the blur...

Bails eyes widen at the question, She'd shake her head, "Only the once, when I went into labor" she'd think back to that day with a mix of pride and embarassment at everyone hunting her down

Dazy begins to circle around Bails, moving her away from the ledge of the building. Her walk appears casual but her pupils widen a little bit, a keen person would notice. "What did you do? Where did you go?"

Bails watches Dazy start to circle her pushing her from the edge. She'd be curious but not concerned, "I was up here, down at the cliffs, the cemetary, the bridge, the church." she'd think back. "I don't think I missed an inch of this place that day"

Dazy nods, and licks her lips. "You didn't stop... you prowled... Do you remember that feeling?" She lowers her stance slightly...

Bails nods and smiles, "Yeah, I remember it. Felt good. Well, other than the exruitiating pain" she'd chuckle at the thought.

Another shot taken with vintage Kodak High Contrast Copy Film that expired in March 1970 (45 years out of date!!) - freshly run through my trusty Canon A-1 film camera coupled with a 55mm f1.2 lens @f1.2.

This is my cat - missing part of his ear from a catfight a few years ago, just to prove that he's the toughest kitty in the neighbourhood. He has become a bit of a softy as he ages though.

This is why Ella has 64 pictures in her photo album and Jimmy has 194 (Mack is in between with 127). I always have every intention of taking pictures of Ella but something like this always happens. I ended up with about 10 very mediocre pictures of Ella (this was the best if that gives you an idea of their quality) and 96 pictures of Jimmy and Mack fighting (you'll be seeing at least a couple of them).

Such is life with The Angels.

We don't see a whole lot of Dirt during the winter - mainly because we don't go outside very often - but once spring comes around there's a much greater chance of an encounter. Jimmy and Mack prepare for these possible encounters by choreographing a fierce battle to show how big and brave they are. Because we didn't actually see him, we assume Dirt was cowering behind some bush trembling like a scared little baby.

Way to go, strong warriors!
