Thanks for watching.
Hello my amazing Flickr friends !
Today is a pink or purple day at Color my World Daily. And the theme at Smile on Saturday is carved art pieces. I wish I could tell that I’m very good at carving stuff but unfortunately this not the case. I have no carving talent what os ever… I tried to carve something out of soap once and I almost lost 3 fingers… I’m very clumsy and the situation gets even worst when I manipulate sharp objects…
So for today’s picture we have a small wooden elephant and an exemple of my carving talent. I carved this pencil with my initials (I tried to make a heart but it was way more difficult, so I sticked to straight lines …) all by myself !! The elephant is part of my personal collection of elephants. And if I remember right, it was a gift from my aunt. He is very stubborn and he like to push on things with his trunk… Also he is a drinker so dont let him near your drink or it will disappear in no time ! But other than that he is very smart and funny. He was carved from a very hard wood, which makes him almost unbreakable… After all, he survived in my house for so many years....
I wish you all a beautiful day !! See you later my friends !!
Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts!! Stay safe and well!! And see you soon on Flickr !!
Smile on Saturday ~ Carved Art Pieces
Sadly I have no idea where I got this tiny box from but a label on the bottom says, 'Holy Land Stone'.
Thank you to everyone who pauses long enough to look at my photo. All comments and Faves are very much appreciated
Lichtenberg Mountain and Lake Valhalla from the top of Mount McClausland. I did go down to the lake after this first portion of the hike, but there were so many over night campers down there just waking up that I didn't want to disturb them, so I left quietly.
The full circle starts in a garden, ends in a garden, a bit of HDR to give it all umph, for the slide! Got to get your hands dirty to clear the mind!
This is named the altar and around one can see carved old norse runes and newer names or initials
Still some more from the manmade cave, believed to be carved out by celtic munks some time before norse settlement in Iceland

Ezekiel 40:42 “There were four tables carved from stone for the burnt offering, each one and a half cubits long, one and a half cubits wide, and one cubit high, on which the instruments are laid for slaughtering burnt offerings and sacrifices.”

This is a carved sandalwood air freshener which was given to me as a present many years ago, It still smells wonderful to this day. It is just a bit larger than a tennis ball
A piece of trash that we keep preciously as a memory. So thin line.
Those are traditional rural leather shoes from Balkans (those ones are from Bosnia). Those are the ones that belonged to my daughter at the age of one year. So the smallest ones made. They were made as tourist souvenir but she wear
them until hole was made.

Ranakpur Temples are beautiful structures carved in stone. For the followers of Jainism, Ranakpur temples are of great importance, as they make one of the five major pilgrimage sites.
The main Temple possesses around 1400 intricately carved pillars, no one equal ..

Palouse Falls, Washington
As the last age ice was coming to a close, a regular cycle began where glacial meltwater and icebergs would be trapped in a huge lake dammed by ice. Known as Lake Missoula for its modern location, the ice dam would eventually and catastrophically collapse, releasing all the penned-up water at all once. The mass of water would race westward from the Rocky Mountains , eventually draining through the Columbia River basin into the Pacific Ocean. This happened roughly 40 times, every 50 years or so over a period of two millennia. Rinse and repeat, as it were.
One of the the landforms created was the Palouse waterfall shown here. Note the layers of earlier lava flows that have been revealed.

The stone sculptures in Sno, a small village in the Kazbegi region of Georgia, are part of a remarkable art project in the Caucasus. These sculptures consist of impressive stone artworks depicting giant faces, often with a melancholic or mysterious expression. They were created by local artist Merab Piranishvili, who is renowned for his unique ability to bring faces and emotions to life in natural stone. Working primarily with local stones, he carves expressive facial features that tell stories about life, the soul, and the deep connection with nature. The sculptures symbolize the ancient wisdom of the mountain dwellers and the spirit of the past. The faces sometimes appear sad or contemplative, reflecting both the challenges and the beauty of life in the Caucasus. Fully integrated into the surrounding landscape, the sculptures stand among the mountains, hills, and rugged grasslands, blending seamlessly with their natural environment. This is what makes Piranishvili’s work so unique: he respects the natural shapes of the stones and subtly adds human characteristics without compromising their raw, natural beauty. Piranishvili often works directly in the field, selecting local stones and carving them with a hammer and chisel. He carefully considers the natural form of each stone, adapting his designs to create a result that looks organic and harmonizes with the surrounding environment.
Sno is located near the breathtaking Stepantsminda area and the imposing Mount Kazbegi. The stone sculptures are a hidden gem in this region, attracting an increasing number of art enthusiasts and travelers. The site exudes a serene, almost meditative atmosphere—perfect for those seeking something unique off the beaten path. If you ever find yourself near Kazbegi, these sculptures are well worth a visit. They offer a truly unique experience where art and nature come together in perfect harmony.
