There's nothing as lovely and cheerful as Christmas in Disneyland and Disney California Adventure is no slouch either with its Christmas Cheer.
I haven't been in love with all of the Diamond Celebration decorations. But Carthay really looks spiffy when it's all dressed up to celebrate. It ALMOST looks like it was always this way.
Edit: Thanks everybody for helping this get Explored!

What story do you want to tell to the world? For Walt and Mickey, it's a never-ending story of magic and fantasy as his legacy will live on forever.

Hidden inside the Spanish Colonial Revival replica tower of the Carthay Circle Theater Restaurant is this mural of Snow White's enchanted forest.
My Son, Justin and his fiancé Becky asked me to photograph them around the Disneyland Resort for their wedding announcement. We spent two days with various friends and photographers helping us out...Here is one of our favorites from the session...
Those purple lights they put up at Carthay Circle are something else. The photo doesn’t really do them justice. They are cool to see in person but it took me a second to think about editing this shot when I pulled it up. I realized while editing I haven’t edited a lot of shots with this much purple… it’s really just taking over the whole scene. Which lead me to my title. I have a weird association with purple in that I basically always relate it to Grimace of McDonald’s fame. Use your imagination for the rest. Enjoy.

Once again, we fly back out west for a walk down Buena Vista Street at Disney's California Adventure. If you ever get the opportunity to close out a Disneyland park and have it all to yourself, you can picture Walt himself walking down those lonely trolley tracks looking around at his wonderful creations. Its almost a step back in time as you the viewer stares up those lonely tracks to Carthay Circle and wander what this world would be like if Disney was never created. Some say, "It was all started by a mouse," I say, "It was all started by a Walt." Have a magical day!
I love how Disney decorates Carthay Circle for Halloween. I’m not sure if the words Classy and Halloween normally are used together, but when it comes to describing the Carthay Circle Halloween decorations it works.

Here’s another shot from my first night at Disney California Adventure. They weren’t quite done putting up the seasonal purple lights yet so it’s kind of a unique shot. Unfortunately, this was also the night security was pushing very hard so it’s one of very few photos I got from the night. I guess it turned out alright for a rush job. Enjoy.

I've been wanting to take some minimalist style photos, and the blooming Tabebuia trees at Disneyland are feeding that desire! I love the crispness of the light, the colors, and the simplicity of it all!

The Red Trolley Car at Disney California Adventure park are replicas of the Pacific Electric Railway's "Red Cars" that used to Travel through California in the 1900s. When Buena Vista Street open 2012, Disney return the Trolleys that once cross Los Angeles...in smaller Destination ( Buena Vista to Hollywood Tower).
“The Carthay Circle,” in miniature glory. Built to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Disney California Adventure Park today (even if it technically wasn’t an opening day landmark.)
From Disney's California Adventue Park, this shot is a little farther back behind the trees than I normally shoot. Love this area of the park. Buena Vista Street is was decked out for the holidays perfectly.
Christmas in the Buena Vista Street Plaza is quickly becoming a timeless classic.
This is another shot from my test of the Nikon D600. Handheld, single exposure processed in RAW, Nik Color EFX and Photoscape.

Photos taken at Disney's California Adventure ... inside a restaurant on Buena Vista Street ... "Carthay Circle"* (Lounge) ( a gloriously decadent little hide-away, only the "insiders" know about!! Luckily, we were there with one!! :)
This festive drink is the "limited Halloween-time only" POISON APPLETINI! [apple whiskey, liqueur, and bitters with cranberry juice.] Then they add a floating glow skull on top!
Combined with their very cleverly marketed "Witch's Fingers" (bread sticks with 'almonds' as 'fingernails') ... made for a wonderfully delicious combo respite from the hectic pace of sprinting through Disneyland!! ;) ;)
It was an awesome experience ... enjoying the "spirit" of the day, the Halloween Season, and being with wonderful friends !!!!
xoxo

On the 21st of December 1937, Snow White arrives at Carthay Circle to walk the 'blue' carpet to the premiere of her new film.
Disney California Adventure. A little bit of a longer exposure with a glimpse of the water spraying in front of the restaurant. I find myself shooting more closely on my subjects than ever before. I'm really trying to focus more on the details.
The entrance to Disney's California Adventure Park late at night, after the gates have closed. The entrance design was inspired by the Pan Pacific Auditorium, a premiere event venue in Los Angeles from 1935 to 1972.

I was pretty excited to get the e-mail from Nik Software today explaining that I can now download the full suite of plug-ins for free. I've been using Nik Color Efex for awhile but I'm excited to give Silver Efex and Sharpener Pro a try.
If you've never used a plugin from Nik, I definitely recommend trying it out, and at only $150 for the full suite, it's an incredible deal. I paid more than that just to get Color Efex Pro.
In this photo of the Carthay Circle I used a few of my favorite filters, Pro Contrast, Detail Extractor and Tonal Contrast.
