Netherlands, Rotterdam, Puck van Heelstraat, near the "Pathe De Kuip" cinema multiplex. On a Saturday night.
This was taken as part of the HooHaa52 Challenge. The topic for this week was "Night".
When I heard what the topic was going to be, this image came to mind. Finding the time to get out and attempt the shot was a different matter. When I finally found a night that worked well, it was windy. I got all set up before realizing I didn't have a memory card with me. So I had to drive home and come back. I finally got set up and was taking images up until my camera's battery died. This was one of the ones I liked most because I was able to get cars going both directions and streaks through the enter shot. It wasn't until later, when talking in the group discussion, that I realized one mistake I made. I'm so used to shooting the night sky that I forgot to reset the F-Stop for F/20+ instead of F/4. That might have changed a few things. Oh well. Something to try again someday.
I had been shooting at a different angle, but then decided to switch it to this angle to get the flags. I liked the addition of the flags waving in the shot.
Experimenting with slow shutter speeds on a bridge over the highway.
You can see our own parked car on the left, and the lights are from a garbage truck passing by.

The west side of Shinjuku is a business area filled with skyscrapers.
Shinjuku has almost everything, including business, shopping and entertainment for people of all ages.

The SB800 and reflector where then moved around the car to create the lighting as needed.
An old one from my archives:
The power went out at around 6:30pm. Something went wrong with the overhead power lines down the road. My sister and I went for a walk, because without power we didn't have computers to take up all of our time.
When the lights go out, what does the whole neighbourhood do? They go for a walk. I've never seen so many people walking in our suburb before.
The dodgy powerline caused all shops and traffic lights to die. It was so surreal. And then mum called us back home. I used a foldout shop sign as a tripod to take this photo.
so i decided it would be a good idea to go out at 10 pm last night in the cold and take some long exposures :)
i like the ghostly car :)
i felt quite nervous doing this because everyone in the cars were staring at me but i guess thats part of the fun haha :)
